BREAKING: Wounded Warriors Face New Tax This Independence Day
In just six months, the largest tax hikes in the history of America will take effect. They will hit families and small businesses in three great waves on January 1, 2011:
First Wave: Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief
In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011:
Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as higher marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:
- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%
Higher taxes on marriage and family. The “marriage penalty” (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income. The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level. The dependent care and adoption tax credits will be cut.
The return of the Death Tax. This year, there is no death tax. For those dying on or after January 1 2011, there is a 55 percent top death tax rate on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes and a retirement account could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved ones.
Higher tax rates on savers and investors. The capital gains tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in 2011. The dividends tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6 percent in 2011. These rates will rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.
Second Wave: Obamacare
There are over twenty new or higher taxes in Obamacare. Several will first go into effect on January 1, 2011. They include:
The “Medicine Cabinet Tax” Thanks to Obamacare, Americans will no longer be able to use health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription, over-the-counter medicines (except insulin).
The “Special Needs Kids Tax” This provision of Obamacare imposes a cap on flexible spending accounts (FSAs) of $2500 (Currently, there is no federal government limit). There is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap will be particularly cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children. There are thousands of families with special needs children in the United States, and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education. Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children in Washington, D.C. (National Child Research Center) can easily exceed $14,000 per year. Under tax rules, FSA dollars can be used to pay for this type of special needs education.
The HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike. This provision of Obamacare increases the additional tax on non-medical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10 to 20 percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs and other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10 percent.
Third Wave: The Alternative Minimum Tax and Employer Tax Hikes
When Americans prepare to file their tax returns in January of 2011, they’ll be in for a nasty surprise—the AMT won’t be held harmless, and many tax relief provisions will have expired. The major items include:
The AMT will ensnare over 28 million families, up from 4 million last year. According to the left-leaning Tax Policy Center, Congress’ failure to index the AMT will lead to an explosion of AMT taxpaying families—rising from 4 million last year to 28.5 million. These families will have to calculate their tax burdens twice, and pay taxes at the higher level. The AMT was created in 1969 to ensnare a handful of taxpayers.
Small business expensing will be slashed and 50% expensing will disappear. Small businesses can normally expense (rather than slowly-deduct, or “depreciate”) equipment purchases up to $250,000. This will be cut all the way down to $25,000. Larger businesses can expense half of their purchases of equipment. In January of 2011, all of it will have to be “depreciated.”
Taxes will be raised on all types of businesses. There are literally scores of tax hikes on business that will take place. The biggest is the loss of the “research and experimentation tax credit,” but there are many, many others. Combining high marginal tax rates with the loss of this tax relief will cost jobs.
Tax Benefits for Education and Teaching Reduced. The deduction for tuition and fees will not be available. Tax credits for education will be limited. Teachers will no longer be able to deduct classroom expenses. Coverdell Education Savings Accounts will be cut. Employer-provided educational assistance is curtailed. The student loan interest deduction will be disallowed for hundreds of thousands of families.
Charitable Contributions from IRAs no longer allowed. Under current law, a retired person with an IRA can contribute up to $100,000 per year directly to a charity from their IRA. This contribution also counts toward an annual “required minimum distribution.” This ability will no longer be there.

WAYNE ALLYN ROOT: Overwhelm the system
Barrack Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos — thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.
Barack Obama is my college classmate (Columbia University, class of ‘83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward and Piven, two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below. Taken individually they’re alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival … and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it.
Universal health care. The health care bill had very little to do with health care. Â It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions). Obama doesn’t care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?
Cap and trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama’s biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kickback hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama “spread the wealth around.”
Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who’s asking for a 51st state? Who’s asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression? Certainly not American taxpayers. But this has been Obama’s plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.
Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.
Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions — including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). Al l those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.
Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.
With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.
Add it up and you’ve got the perfect Marxist scheme — all devised by my Columbia University college classmate Barack Obama using the Cloward and Piven Plan.

CONSTITUTION COMES FIRST IN VIRGINIA’S OBAMACARE CHALLENGE

RICHMOND, Va. – Visitors in Ken Cuccinelli’s modest office overlooking the state Capitol can readily see the appreciation of Virginia’s attorney general for the Founding Fathers. (Watch Cuccinelli’s interview with Heritage -
Paintings of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry hang on his wall. The Gadsden flag stands next to his desk. And when you ask Cuccinelli about Obamacare, he immediately shifts the conversation to the U.S. Constitution.
“I don’t think in my lifetime we’ve seen one statute that so erodes liberty than this health care bill,” Cuccinelli said in a recent interview.
Certainly, we view our lawsuit as being not merely about health care. That’s actually secondary to the real important aspect of the case, and that is to protect the Constitution as we essentially define the outer limits of federal power. If we lose, it’s very much the end of federalism as we’ve known it for over 220 years.”
Virginia’s lawsuit asserts that President Obama’s health care law is unconstitutional on the basis of its individual mandate requiring Americans to buy insurance. The suit seeks to protect a Virginia statute, passed by the state legislature in March, which says Virginians cannot be compelled to buy health insurance or to pay a penalty if they refuse insurance.
A federal court in Richmond will hear oral arguments in the case on Thursday, July 1. That makes Cuccinelli’s office ground zero in Virginia’s battle to undo Obamacare.
Aside from the lawsuit, the state is also facing the fiscal burdens that come with Obamacare.
Official estimates put the law’s cost to the state at $1.5 billion through 2022. That’s because about 80,000 low-income children and teens in Virginia will no longer be covered by the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which supplies states with a generous federal match. Instead, they’ll be enrolled in Medicaid — and Virginia will have to foot more of the bill.
And those 80,000 children won’t be the only people added to the rolls: The state will eventually have to extend Medicaid coverage to some 400,000 additional people.
While these fiscal challenges pose a threat to Virginia’s budget, Cuccinelli is focused on the law’s constitutionality. He believes the case will ultimately end up at the U.S. Supreme Court within two years.
Another lawsuit from 20 attorneys general and the National Federation of Independent Business could make its way there, too. That case is currently in a federal district court in Florida.
Virginia decided to pursue its own legal path independent of the other states because of the action of its legislature. Cuccinelli believes that, as more states enter the courtroom, the Supreme Court will recognize the importance of the issues at stake.
“Never before has the federal government ordered individual Americans to buy something from other Americans,” Cuccinelli said. “It is an extraordinary extension of power by the federal government and it is also an imposition on our state’s law.”
The Obama administration views things differently. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius filed a motion to have the case dismissed on the grounds that the state doesn’t have standing to sue — a move Cuccinelli predicted and had been preparing to counter. He filed a response June 7. Oral arguments are expected in July.
Regardless of what happens in the district court, Cuccinelli said he’s prepared for a lengthy legal fight. And because he just took office in January, he vowed to remain vigilant.
“We are absolutely in it for the long haul, and that’s important,” he said, noting that he’s also suing the Environmental Protection Agency for its claim that greenhouse gases jeopardize human health. “I’m going to be in this office to see these cases all the way through. And we are going to see them all the way through.”
As he sees it, this is something the Founding Fathers would want the states to do, provide a much-needed check in the system of checks and balances outlined by James Madison in the Federalist Papers.
“We can protect our citizens, and be in a position to protect our laws, where we represent our citizens, even against the federal government. Virginia is a sovereign entity in this constitutional system,” Cuccinelli said.
“We created, along with 12 other states at the time, the federal government as it’s currently structured. And we intend to remind them of that with this lawsuit.”

Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.
Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted his ‘allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah,’ defiantly stating, ‘I think I will not apologize for my actions,’ and told the court ‘I am at war with your country.’
Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:
Judge Young: ‘Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.
On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively. (That’s 80 years.)
On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to be served consecutively to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that’s an aggregate fine of $2 million. The Court accepts the government’s recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.
The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.
This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence.
Now, let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is too much war talk here and I say that to everyone with the utmost respect. Here in this court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals. As human beings, we reach out for justice.
You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether the officers of government do it or your attorney does it, or if you think you are a soldier, you are not—– you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not meet with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.
So war talk is way out of line in this court You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You’re no warrior. I’ve known warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders. In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he said: ‘You’re no big deal.’
You are no big deal.
What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today?
I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing? And, I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.
It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom. It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom, so that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It is for freedom’s sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.
We Americans are all about freedom. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bear any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure.
Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America , the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done. The very President of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.
See that flag, Mr. Reid? That’s the flag of the United States of America . That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. And it always will.
Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down.
So, how much of this Judge’s comments did we hear on our TV sets? We need more judges like Judge Young. Pass this around. Everyone should and needs to hear what this fine judge had to say. Powerful words that strike home.

RECLAIM AMERICAN JOBS CAUCUS RESPONDS TO OBAMA REMARKS

Washington, DC – The Reclaim American Jobs Caucus reacted today to President Obama’s remarks regarding immigration. The Caucus, co-chaired by Reps. Lamar Smith, Gary Miller and Sue Myrick, works to enforce our current immigration laws, increase worksite enforcement, and encourage employer use of the E-Verify system. American citizens and legal immigrants should not have to compete with illegal workers for scarce jobs.
Rep. Lamar Smith (TX-21) said: “There are 15 million unemployed workers in America and eight million illegal immigrants in the labor force. We could cut unemployment in half simply by reclaiming the jobs taken by illegal workers! President Obama is on the wrong side of the American people on immigration. The President should support policies that help citizens and legal immigrants find the jobs they need and deserve rather than fail to enforce immigration laws. President Obama has failed to protect American jobs.
“President Obama’s words contradict his administration’s actions when it comes to immigration enforcement and border security. For example, the President has said that employers must be held accountable for hiring illegal workers. Yet under his administration, workplace enforcement is in a freefall and the Justice Department is urging the Supreme Court to stop a state from revoking the business licenses of companies that hire illegal workers. The President says that the border is more secure than ever, yet his own administration has posted signs at National Parks the border region warning Americans against the danger of smugglers. An attrition-through-enforcement approach can work, but only if the administration enforces the law.
Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) said: “Any change in immigration policy that rewards illegal aliens with citizenship and the ability to continue working in the US is simply wrong and insulting to the millions of Americans out of a job.”
Representative Gary Miller (CA-42) said, “As the national unemployment rate continues to hover around 10 percent, it is incomprehensible that President Obama is renewing his call for so-called comprehensive immigration reform. If the federal government simply enforced existing immigration laws on the books, we could reclaim the estimated eight million jobs that illegal immigrants have stolen and give 15 million unemployed Americans more opportunities to go back to work.”
The Reclaim American Jobs Caucus noted that the number of illegal immigrants in the labor force equals more than half of the total number of unemployed in 16 states and the District of Columbia. They are Arizona, New Jersey, Maryland, Texas, Nevada, California, Utah, New York, Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Hawaii, Delaware and North Carolina. These states represent 53 percent of the U.S. total population.
The Reclaim American Jobs Caucus remains concerned that the Obama administration has ignored enforcement of immigration laws at the workplace. Administrative arrests are down 81% from 2008, criminal arrests are down 67%, indictments are down 73% and convictions are down 75%.
The Obama administration argues that they have increased the number of audits of employers. But audits do almost nothing to stop illegal immigration or discourage illegal hiring. Audits can result in fines, though employers consider them just the cost of doing business. Illegal workers typically are not arrested and are usually turned loose in the community to compete with citizens and legal immigrants for other jobs.
The Reclaim American Jobs Caucus noted that clear evidence exists as to the benefit of worksite enforcement. After a worksite enforcement action at Georgia’s Crider Inc, the company lost over 600 illegal workers. But Crider increased wages more than $1 an hour and within days hired legal workers. And just three weeks after a worksite enforcement action at Michael Bianco Incorporated in New Bedford, Massachusetts, 400 legal workers applied to fill the 361 positions left by illegal immigrants who were deported. The companies were forced to raise wages and recruit local employees, many of whom had previously had a difficult time finding jobs.
An Associated Press poll this month found that only 36 percent of Americans approve of the President’s handling of immigration and only 42 percent of Americans approve of the way President Obama is handling unemployment. The Reclaim American Jobs Caucus recognizes that this is no coincidence—illegal immigration and unemployment are directly linked.

Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.
Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.
Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution? – Declaration of Independence? ot the Bill of Rights? Didn’t think so.
Did Muslims fight for this country’s freedom from England ? No.
Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own half brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as “pug nosed slaves.” Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family’s “rich Islamic heritage,” doesn’t it Mr. Obama?
Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present.
There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.
Where were Muslims during this country’s Woman’s Suffrage era? Again, not present. In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the ‘hajib’ or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband. Yep, the Muslims are all for women’s rights, aren’t they?
Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from
the Nazi’s in killing Jews.
Finally, Mr Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren’t flying planes into the World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East . No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very “moderate” Muslims who’s asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.
And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the “rich heritage” Muslims have here in America.
Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslim.
And now we can add November 5, 2009 – the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

LIMITED GOVERNMENT – NOT LIMITED RIGHTS

The Tea Party movement in the United States is raising awareness and inspiring conversations regarding that very extraordinary document we call our Constitution. The Committee to Recall Senator Robert Menendez (the Committee) has been the catalyst for many of these conversations as arguments both for and against recall can be read all over the internet and in many media venues across the nation.
The Committee’s explanation that they have elected to initiate the recall against Senator Menendez due to his unconstitutional votes on healthcare and illegal immigration is often met with confusion. Additionally, many also believe that the recall itself is unconstitutional. Therefore, it has become apparent that a more detailed explanation is in order.
Our Founding Fathers wrote two extraordinary documents which serve as the basis of our system of government. The first was our Declaration of Independence, which acts as our mission statement and the second is our Constitution, which acts as our by-laws. Our mission statement describes our heart and what makes us unique, while our by-laws describe the do’s and don’ts of how our federal government operates.
The Declaration of Independence clearly asserts that our rights come from God and not government. It states:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by the Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
It goes on to say that the purpose of government is secure our God-given rights:
“That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among them…”
And that government receives its rights from the consent of the governed:
“… deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
This unique perspective established the basis of designing a system where the powers of government are limited and defined but the rights of citizens are unlimited and not necessarily defined. Therefore, it is important to realize that any argument from silence concerning the Constitution should support the rights of the citizens or the states and does not support undefined powers of the federal government. The only rights given to the federal government are defined and cannot exceed those written within the Constitution. These government powers are referred to as “enumerated (or specified) powers,” and apply only to the federal government. The states, however, are free to adopt laws and establish powers as they see fit. In other words, restrictions were put on the federal government.
Understanding these principles is paramount to understanding the constitutional argument of the Committee. If our rights come from God and our Constitution limits the powers of the government, then it is reasonable to argue that since the right to recall is not mentioned in the Constitution (one way or another), it’s absence should support the Committee’s right to recall. Again, recall is not mentioned in the Constitution, which only defines how the federal government functions and limits its power. In the State of New Jersey the citizens voted by 76.2% to amend their state constitution to include recall in 1993, after Governor Jim Florio angered the citizens of New Jersey by raising taxes, which he vowed not to do while campaigning. The citizens of New Jersey understood that elections gave them the right to choose their representatives but recalls gave them the tool to keep their representatives accountable. According to the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the Constitution, the citizens of New Jersey were clearly exercising their constitutional right to state sovereignty.
When the Constitution was submitted for ratification in 1787, the states were fearful that certain rights were so important that they had to be specifically spelled out. James Madison and Alexander Hamilton thought it was unnecessary to spell these rights out because the federal government’s powers were limited. They further feared that if any rights were specified that it could be argued that those that were not specified were not protected. The Ninth and Tenth Amendments were suggested as the solution to the problem.
The Ninth Amendment states:
“The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”
In other words, this Amendment clearly states that just because certain rights are not specifically defined in the Constitution, does not mean that they don’t exist.
The Tenth Amendment reads:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Once again, our founders went through great pains to be sure it was understood that the people of this country and their respective states retained all sovereignty in matters not specifically belonging to the federal government and defined within the Constitution. All restrictions were placed on the federal government and not the states. The citizens and the states retained all other rights. This is a foundational principle of our Constitutional Republic.
While it was exceedingly important to our founders to limit the federal government, they also understood that in order to operate effectively, the federal government had to possess certain rights in order to carry out functions of a national nature. Article One, Section Eight lists these powers. They are to be uniform throughout the United States and are for the purposes of providing for the “general welfare” and “common defense.” They are as follows:
To regulate interstate and international commerce;
- To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization;
- To establish uniform laws on the subject of Bankruptcies;
- To coin money and establish its value;
- To fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
- To provide for the punishment of counterfeiting
- To establish post offices and post roads;
- To promote the progress of science & useful arts by supplying copyrights & patents;
- To establish Federal Courts;
- To govern the District of Columbia;
- To purchase real estate for needful buildings;
- To make laws necessary to carry out the execution of the defined powers;
- To define and punish Maritime and international crimes;
- To declare war;
- To make rules for and to fund the Military Services.
When the Committee refers to Senator Menendez’s votes for things like healthcare being “unconstitutional”, they are referring to the enumerated powers listed above and claim that these powers do not provide for government-run healthcare or a host of other usurpations that have developed over the past several years.
Thomas Jefferson once said, “Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force.” The Committee believes that the out-of-control government we are now experiencing has assumed undelegated powers, and is therefore unauthoritative and should be void and of no force. It is the underlying principle behind the recall movement and the Committee’s desire to restore government limits and state sovereignty.
To further make the point, below are listed just a few of Senator Menendez’s votes that the Committee doesn’t believe are authorized under the Constitution:
Voted not to notify parents of minors who get out of state abortions
- Voted for partial birth abortion
- Voted for human cloning
- Voted that tax money should pay for contraception
- Voted for healthcare to pay for abortions
- Voted to send federal funds to “sanctuary cities”
- Voted not to declare English as the official US language
- Voted not to build the fence along the Mexican border
- Voted not to send the National Guard to protect our southern border
- Voted to give illegal aliens social security
- Voted to give permanent residence to “undocumented workers”
- Voted not to enforce immigration laws
- Voted to confiscate firearms
- Voted to give the children of illegal aliens college tuition money
- Voted to keep the marriage penalty tax
- Voted to continue TARP funds
- Voted to increase national public debt
- Voted to develop a “global” strategy to eliminate poverty
- Voted to protect the rights of terrorists
- Voted to apply the Geneva Convention to terrorists
- Voted for government-run healthcare
It is a bit ironic that Senator Menendez would try to protect his career by hiding behind the Constitution when it is apparent from his voting record that the Constitution is of little value to him. Make no mistake about it, we are in a battle whose outcome will determine whether or not a nation of the people, by the people and for the people can survive upon this earth. It is our hope that this article has answered some of your questions and that you will join us in this historic battle to preserve our liberties and freedoms for ourselves and for generations to come.

Any day now, Harry Reid could try to ram the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill (S. 3194) through the Senate. Fortunately, the press is catching on to his desperate attempt to pay off Big Labor.
National Right to Work Committee staff have alerted concerned citizens and the news media about this dangerous legislation, and opposition to S. 3194 is spreading fast.
Harry Reid’s hometown paper, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, hammered the Senate Majority Leader:
Now, with Democrats at risk of sustaining huge election losses in November, unions are ready to spend piles of cash to save as many incumbents as possible. The Hill reported this month that AFSCME and the SEIU have committed $94 million between them to bail out mortally wounded Democrats, including Sen. Reid. But first, they want a gesture of good faith in return. That’s why Sen. Reid is in a rush to get this horrible legislation passed.
Editorial boards at the Denver Post and Virginian-Pilot have urged undecided Democrats — including Colorado’s Michael Bennet and Virginia’s Mark Warner and Jim Webb — to oppose the power grab because it would overturn those states’ popular and duly-enacted employment policies by federal fiat.
And National Review calls S. 3194 “bad policy and bad politics.”

The National Rifle Association believes that any restrictions on the political speech of Americans are unconstitutional.
In the past, through the courts and in Congress, the NRA has opposed any effort to restrict the rights of its four million members to speak and have their voices heard on behalf of gun owners nationwide.
The NRA’s opposition to restrictions on political speech includes its May 26, 2010 letter to Members of Congress expressing strong concerns about H.R. 5175, the DISCLOSE Act. As it stood at the time of that letter, the measure would have undermined or obliterated virtually all of the NRA’s right to free political speech and, therefore, jeopardized the Second Amendment rights of every law-abiding American.
The most potent defense of the Second Amendment requires the most adamant exercise of the First Amendment. The NRA stands absolutely obligated to its members to ensure maximum access to the First Amendment, in order to protect and preserve the freedom of the Second Amendment.
The NRA must preserve its ability to speak. It cannot risk a strategy that would deny its rights, for the Second Amendment cannot be defended without them.
Thus, the NRA’s first obligation must be to its members and to its most ardent defense of firearms freedom for America’s lawful gun owners.
On June 14, 2010, Democratic leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives pledged that H.R. 5175 would be amended to exempt groups like the NRA, that meet certain criteria, from its onerous restrictions on political speech. As a result, and as long as that remains the case, the NRA will not be involved in final consideration of the House bill.
The NRA cannot defend the Second Amendment from the attacks we face in the local, state, federal, international and judicial arenas without the ability to speak. We will not allow ourselves to be silenced while the national news media, politicians and others are allowed to attack us freely.
The NRA will continue to fight for its right to speak out in defense of the Second Amendment. Any efforts to silence the political speech of NRA members will, as has been the case in the past, be met with strong opposition.

NOTICE THE STATE’S MOTTO -
The New Hampshire state legislature took an unbelievably bold step Monday by introducing a resolution to declare certain actions by the federal government to completely totally void and warning that certain future acts will be viewed as a “breach of peace” with the states themselves that risks nullifying the Constitution.”
This act by New Hampshire is a clear warning to the federal government that they could face being stripped of their power by the States (presumably through civil war!).
The remarkable document outlines with perfect clarity, some basics long forgotten. For instance, it reminds Congress “That the Constitution of the United States, having delegated to Congress a power to punish treason, counterfeiting the securities and current coin of the United States, piracies, and felonies committed on the high seas, and offences against the law of nations, slavery, and no other crimes whatsoever;. . . . . therefore all acts of Congress which assume to create, define, or punish crimes, other than those so enumerated in the Constitution are altogether void, and of no force;”
Federal gun crime laws? Void. Federal drug crime laws? Void. The gazzillion other federal criminal laws that deal with anything other than the specific enumerated crimes? ALL VOID.
One would think that if any lawyer anywhere in the entire country was worth his salt, all federal criminal trials would have ended years ago. This seems to prove that most lawyers are dullards.
New Hampshire deals a complete death blow to the pending federal hate crimes legislation by pointing out “That, therefore, all acts of Congress of the United States which do abridge the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, are not law, but are altogether void, and of no force; . . . . .”
Later in the Resolution, New Hampshire makes clear what the feds are now risking if they proceed further: The removal of all powers from the federal government by the States!
Quoting directly from the Resolution: “That any Act by the Congress of the United States, Executive Order of the President of the United States of America or Judicial Order by the Judicatories of the United States of America which assumes a power not delegated to the government of United States of America by the Constitution for the United States of America and which serves to diminish the liberty of the any of the several States or their citizens shall constitute a nullification of the Constitution for the United States of America by the government of the United States of America. Acts which would cause such a nullification include, but are not limited to:
I. Establishing martial law or a state of emergency within one of the States comprising the United States of America without the consent of the legislature of that State.
II. Requiring involuntary servitude, or governmental service other than a draft during a declared war, or pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law.
III. Requiring involuntary servitude or governmental service of persons under the age of 18 other than pursuant to, or as an alternative to, incarceration after due process of law.
IV. Surrendering any power delegated or not delegated to any corporation or foreign government.
V. Any act regarding religion; further limitations on freedom of political speech; or further limitations on freedom of the press.
VI. Further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition; and That should any such act of Congress become law or Executive Order or Judicial Order be put into force, all powers previously delegated to the United States of America by the Constitution for the United States shall revert to the several States individually. Any future government of the United States of America shall require ratification of three quarters of the States seeking to form a government of the United States of America and shall not be binding upon any State not seeking to form such a government; and That copies of this resolution be transmitted by the house clerk to the President of the United States, each member of the United States Congress, and the presiding officers of each State’s legislature.

Our country is in a lot of trouble. Over the last eight years, our government’s spending and obligations have reached unsustainable levels. 2010 Federal spending is 26% of GDP. Government debt and unfunded obligations are 7.7 times our GDP. These are without continuing, immeasurable “obligations” to support Fannie and Freddie, rapidly rising health care costs, etc. Our country is beyond European debt/obligation levels. Our democracy is spending much more than “Socialists”. Our spending is ineffective, wasted.
We cannot survive with half a measure for Senator. I can only vote for BILL PARSON for U.S. Senate. Parson’s vision is a dramatic reduction in the size and cost of the Federal Government within 10 years; a country where the sovereignty of each of the individual 50 states is restored with the Federal Government making no unfunded mandates on the states; a nation where the will of the people is once again recognized by our elected representatives in Washington D.C. He envisions a Government as was envisioned by our Founding Fathers.
Bill Parson is by far the most qualified candidate for U.S Senate. He is passionate about the Constitution. Parson is very knowledgeable in international affairs. During 23 years in the U.S. Marines, he had some State Department duties in Korea, Japan, Europe, Norway, etc. He knows the issues in Asia, Korea, Israel, Europe and elsewhere around the world and he has practical solutions. He is very knowledgeable of the military, nuclear energy, the Nevada test site, and small business. Ask: “What do the other candidates know about the Constitution”? Passion for the Constitution must be a requirement.
If the voters who have talked with Bill Parson heard him speak, read his vision and goals, and/or reviewed his website and like his message, they will vote for him and he can win the Primary election on June 8. If he wins the Primary, he can beat Harry Reid. I am proud to support Bill Parson for U.S. Senate.

He writes: My lead flight attendant came to me and said, “We have an H.R. on this flight.” (H.R. stands for human remains.) “Are they military?” I asked.
‘Is there an escort?’ I asked.
‘Yes, I already assigned him a seat’.
‘Would you please tell him to come to the flight deck. You can board him early,” I said..
A short while later, a young army sergeant entered the flight deck. He was the image of the perfectly dressed soldier. He introduced himself and I asked him about his soldier. The escorts of these fallen soldiers talk about them as if they are still alive and still with us.
‘My soldier is on his way back to Virginia,’ he said. He proceeded to answer my questions, but offered no words.
I asked him if there was anything I could do for him and he said no. I told him that he had the toughest job in the military and that I appreciated the work that he does for the families of our fallen soldiers. The first officer and I got up out of our seats to shake his hand. He left the flight deck to find his seat.
We completed our preflight checks, pushed back and performed an uneventful departure. About 30 minutes into our flight I received a call from the lead flight attendant in the cabin. ‘I just found out the family of the soldier we are carrying, is on board’, she said. She then proceeded to tell me that the father, mother, wife and 2-year old daughter were escorting their son, husband, and father home. The family was upset because they were unable to see the container that the soldier was in before we left. We were on our way to a major hub at which the family was going to wait four hours for the connecting flight home to Virginia.
The father of the soldier told the flight attendant that knowing his son was below him in the cargo compartment and being unable to see him was too much for him and the family to bear. He had asked the flight attendant if there was anything that could be done to allow them to see him upon our arrival. The family wanted to be outside by the cargo door to watch the soldier being taken off the airplane.. I could hear the desperation in the flight attendants voice when she asked me if there was anything I could do.. ‘I’m on it’, I said. I told her that I would get back to her.
Airborne communication with my company normally occurs in the form of e-mail like messages. I decided to bypass this system and contact my flight dispatcher directly on a secondary radio. There is a radio operator in the operations control center who connects you to the telephone of the dispatcher. I was in direct contact with the dispatcher.. I explained the situation I had on board with the family and what it was the family wanted. He said he understood and that he would get back to me.
Two hours went by and I had not heard from the dispatcher. We were going to get busy soon and I needed to know what to tell the family. I sent a text message asking for an update. I saved the return message from the dispatcher and the following is the text:
‘Captain, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. There is policy on this now and I had to check on a few things. Upon your arrival a dedicated escort team will meet the aircraft. The team will escort the family to the ramp and plane side. A van will be used to load the remains with a secondary van for the family. The family will be taken to their departure area and escorted into the terminal where the remains can be seen on the ramp. It is a private area for the family only. When the connecting aircraft arrives, the family will be escorted onto the ramp and plane side to watch the remains being loaded for the final leg home. Captain, most of us here in flight control are veterans.
Please pass our condolences on to the family. Thanks.’
I sent a message back telling flight control thanks for a good job. I printed out the message and gave it to the lead flight attendant to pass on to the father. The lead flight attendant was very thankful and told me, ‘You have no idea how much this will mean to them.’
Things started getting busy for the descent, approach and landing. After landing, we cleared the runway and taxied to the ramp area. The ramp is huge with 15 gates on either side of the alleyway. It is always a busy area with aircraft maneuvering every which way to enter and exit. When we entered the ramp and checked in with the ramp controller, we were told that all traffic was being held for us.
‘There is a team in place to meet the aircraft’, we were told. It looked like it was all coming together, then I realized that once we turned the seat belt sign off, everyone would stand up at once and delay the family from getting off the airplane. As we approached our gate, I asked the copilot to tell the ramp controller we were going to stop short of the gate to make an announcement to the passengers. He did that and the ramp controller said, ‘Take your time.’
I stopped the aircraft and set the parking brake. I pushed the public address button and said, ‘Ladies and gentleman, this is your Captain speaking I have stopped short of our gate to make a special announcement. We have a passenger on board who deserves our honor and respect. His Name is Private XXXXXX, a soldier who recently lost his life. Private XXXXXX is under your feet in the cargo hold. Escorting him today is Army Sergeant XXXXXXX. Also, on board are his father, mother, wife, and daughter. Your entire flight crew is asking for all passengers to remain in their seats to allow the family to exit the aircraft first. Thank you.’
We continued the turn to the gate, came to a stop and started our shutdown procedures. A couple of minutes later I opened the cockpit door. I found the two forward flight attendants crying, something you just do not see. I was told that after we came to a stop, every passenger on the aircraft stayed in their seats, waiting for the family to exit the aircraft.
When the family got up and gathered their things, a passenger slowly started to clap his hands. Moments later more passengers joined in and soon the entire aircraft was clapping. Words of ‘God Bless You’, I’m sorry, thank you, be proud, and other kind words were uttered to the family as they made their way down the aisle and out of the airplane. They were escorted down to the ramp to finally be with their loved one.
Many of the passengers disembarking thanked me for the announcement I had made. They were just words, I told them, I could say them over and over again, but nothing I say will bring back that brave soldier.
I respectfully ask that all of you reflect on this event and the sacrifices that millions of our men and women have made to ensure our freedom and safety in these United States of AMERICA .

As a Viet Nam Veteran I can only think of all the veterans including the ones that rode below the deck on their way home and how they were treated. When I read things like this I am proud that our country has not turned their backs on our soldiers returning from the various war zones today and give them the respect they so deserve.
I know everyone who has served their country who reads this will have tears in their eyes, including me.

MEMORIAL DAY - by Bill McIntyre

Memorial Day; a day governments and many businesses, except for essential services, shut down to observe and celebrate the occasion with a three day weekend. It wasn’t always this way. Let us never forget the purpose of the day that began as Decoration Day (DD) and known today as Memorial Day by Federal law in 1967.
It is reported that the first observance of DD was held in Waterloo, NY, May 5, 1866, led by its distinguished citizen General John Murray. It began as an observance to honor the Union soldiers who died fighting in the Civil War. We now pay tribute to all of our military who died while serving our country.
On May 5, 1868, Gen. Murray’s friend, Gen. John A. Logan, commander-in-chief of the veteran’s organization Grand Army of the Republic, issued a proclamation that Decoration Day be observed nationwide. The date of May 30th was set for DD to be observed as it was not the anniversary of a battle. This was changed to the last Monday in May by Congress on June 28, 1968 to provide a three day weekend. The law took effect in 1971.
Many southern states at first refused to celebrate as few Union soldiers were buried in the south and they still held some hostility towards the Union Army. One exception was in Columbus, Mississippi where in its cemetery both Union and Confederate soldiers were buried. Eventually all Civil War soldiers of the north and south were included.
But; the very first DD was held in Charlestown, SC May 1, 1865, in a ceremony that was largely forgotten. Yale Professor David W. Blight discovered writings of a Union soldier in a Harvard University library. Prof. Blight, with help, found an article in the Charlestown Daily Courier dated May 2, 1865 with the headline “Martyrs of the Race Course.”
The Washington Race Course in Charlestown, prior to the war, was where the wealthy and influential gathered. During the war it was converted into a prison camp for captured Union soldiers. It was there that 257 soldiers died due to malnutrition and exposure and were buried in shallow mass graves.
Two dozen black men in April 1865, former slaves who referred to themselves as “Friends of the Martyrs” and the “Patriotic Association of Colored Men,” built a 10’ fence and dug 257 graves in the track’s infield; then buried each solider individually.
On May 1, 1865, they gave the fallen a proper funeral and termed it Decoration Day. It was reported that nearly 10,000 former slaves participated along with 2,800 black school children and they were joined by several Union regiments. The exercise began at 9:00 AM with the reading of a Psalm. They then sang a hymn and prayed. With each carrying flowers, they formed a procession strewing flowers on the graves as they passed by singing ‘John Brown’s Body,’ followed with ‘The Star Spangled Banner,’ ‘America’ and ‘Rally Round the Flag.’
In a solemn salute, the Union regiments marched around the graves. Everyone enjoyed a picnic that lasted until dusk. It was truly a wonderful tribute by former slaves for some of the soldiers who died for their emancipation. Sadly, many in power today either do not know or have chosen to ignore history, our history. Have all of those who have died for our freedoms that we honor on Memorial Day, died in vain? I pray not! May God bless them and the United States of America! Freedom is not free, nor guaranteed. It must be fought for to get and to keep. Enjoy the weekend!

What to do this Memorial Day. There are so many traditions, events and activities. We have the luxury to spend an extended weekend with family and friends. Maybe even get away and relax with some piece and quiet. But let’s not forget why we have this holiday. There have been many that gave the ultimate sacrifice for us to enjoy the freedoms that we may or may not appreciate today.
Do we enjoy our freedoms and rights? Did we take a few minutes out of our day and vote just a few days ago? When was the last time we complained about, debated or preached about some issue? Did anyone silence us or take us away? When was the last time anyone ever warned us …to be careful about what we say or do? Has anyone ever mentioned which religion we can, or cannot belong to. No, not very likely. We have freedoms that we don’t even give a second thought about. Generally we go about our lives without much concern about our freedoms.
We have the freedoms and rights towards life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Whether we exercise those rights is up to us. So, when was the last time we subscribed to and paid our membership dues to enjoy those freedoms and rights? Is there a form to be filled out? Do we need to study and pass a test? No, it’s an ongoing lifetime subscription for us. However, it’s not free! There is someone else that paid our dues for us and others throughout the world. Wouldn’t it be appropriate to just say thank you once in a while? Is that so hard to do? We can still enjoy our picnics and baseball games. Let’s just keep in mind that there are a few of our family, friends, neighbors, citizens that won’t be able to join us as we enjoy our extended weekend. How about we say thank you to the many Veterans that are with us. You might see them this weekend. Sometimes they dust off their uniforms and proudly wear them even though they might fit a bit too tight these days. How about a salute, handshake, pat on the back just to let them know that we care, remember and respect their friends they served alongside, and those from long ago, since the beginning of this great Country.

The doctor had his TV on in his office when the news of the military base shootings atFt. Hood, TX came on. The husband of one of his employees was stationed there.
He called her into his office and as he told her what had happened, she got a text message from her husband saying, “I am okay.” Her cell phone rang right after she read the message. It was an ER nurse,” I’m the one who just sent you a text, not your husband. I thought it would be comforting but I was mistaken in doing so. I am sorry to tell you this, but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery.”
The soldier’s wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan , AL and drove all night to Ft.Hood. When she arrived, she found out her husband was out of surgery and would be OK.
She rushed to his room and found that he already had visitors there to comfort him. He was just waking up and found his wife and the visitors by his side. The nurse took this picture -
What? No news crews and cameras? This is how people with class respond and pay respect to those in uniform.
I sent my cousin in Fayetteville, N.C. (Retired from Special Forces) that picture of Geo. W. visiting the wounded at Ft. Hood. I got this reply:
What is even better is the fact George W. Bush heard about Fort Hood, got in his car without any escort, apparently they did not have time to react, and drove to Fort Hood. He was stopped at the gate and the guard could not believe who he had just stopped. Bush only asks for directions to the hospital then drove on. The gate guard called that “The President is on Fort Hood and driving to the hospital.”
The base went bananas looking for Obama. When they found it was Bush, they immediately offered escort. Bush simply told them to shut up and let him visit the wounded and the dependents of the dead.
He stayed at Fort Hood for over six hours, and was finally asked to leave by a message from the White House.
Obama flew in days later and held a “photo” session in a gym, and did not even go to the hospital.
All this I picked up from two soldiers here who happened to be at Fort Hood when it happened.
This Bush/Obama/Ft.Hood story is something that should be sent to every voter in the US. Those who wanted “change” certainly got it.

You will not see this heart-stopping photo on the front page of the NY Times, nor on the lead story of the major news networks. The protestors at Montebello High School took the American flag off the school’s flag pole and hung it upside down while putting up the Mexican flag over it. (*See pictures below*)
I predict this stunt will be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/ amnesty plan on the table in Washington … The image of the American flag subsumed to another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail.
Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federalgovernment.. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be ‘redistributed’ to the activists whileyou are so peacefully staying out of the ‘fray’. Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held their core beliefs and values. One person CAN make a difference….

A LETTER TO MAYOR BLOOMBERG

Dear Mayor Bloomberg:
You insufferable little man. You insufferable, insulting, little man.
In your ivory-tower-skewed, elitist wisdom, you first saw fit to react to the attempted Times Square bombing by betting your twenty-five cents that the bomber was “…homegrown, or maybe a mentally deranged person, or somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something…”
While Conservatives tend to roll their eyes at the degree of overwrought political correctness in today’s society, we have nonetheless become sensitized to the much-discussed concept of “code words,” drummed, as it is, incessantly into our heads by the media and the race-baiters. So it’s not hard to imagine that your health care reference was a not-so-veiled indictment, well in advance of any investigative conclusions, of the Tea Party movement.
I supposed you deduced this from the video of a white man removing his shirt on a hot, sticky day in crowded Times Square. Who among us could have expected that, when we overlooked your term-limit end run, we’d be electing the reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes? What astounding deductive powers.
A question: Was your face red when you found out, a scant day later, that the perpetrator was actually a Pakistani-born Muslim, al-Qaeda trained, whose path to citizenship was to marry an American woman? My guess is that no, you were not embarrassed for having smeared tens of thousands of your constituents. Who cares what the peons think, right Mike?
And so it was that you saw fit to admonish us immediately after the identity of the terrorist was made known. You couldn’t wait to warn us, we red-necked, thuggish, racist cretins who demonstrate in support of the Constitution. A good, hard, pre-emptive slap is good for us kids, I suppose.
In totally misreading the good citizens of New York City of every race, religion or ethnicity, you sternly lectured that “”We will not tolerate any bias or backlash against Pakistani or Muslim New Yorkers.” Way to go, Mike. A left jab is a good prelude to a right cross. Two insults are better than one.
If you knew anything about the people you govern, you’d know that there are no more fair people on the planet than New Yorkers, and that we judge no man by the color of his skin, his ethnic makeup or his background. But you don’t know us well enough, do you, and so you thought we needed a talking-to by you, a small-minded little man with a Napoleonic complex and an ego that is far too large for even this, the second hardest job in America.
How about this: next time, instead of blabbing on national television, you shut up about your opinions on who committed a crime and let the police do their job?
How about this: next time, instead of incorrectly labeling a terrorist act as a one-off crime, you remind New Yorkers that we are a target in the War on Terror, and to remain vigilant and alert?
How about this: next time, instead of warning us about the horrors of profiling or bias, you practice what you preach.
How about this: next time, you take the advice of those good and proud Americans you saw fit to smear and just get lost, you creep.

Puerto Rico is a Spanish-speaking island which has been a semi-independent commonwealth (“freely associated state” in Spanish) of the United States since 1952. Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since 1917. Residents of Puerto Rico have rejected statehood in every referendum conducted on the subject since 1967.
Periodically some politicians in Washington, D.C. and/or San Juan attempt to revive the issue of American statehood for Puerto Rico. These efforts were badly harmed by Puerto Rico’s successful efforts in 1999-2001 to expel the U.S. Navy from its training grounds in Vieques Puerto Rico. After all, it is unsettling to contemplate that the motto of America’s 51st state might be that of any other Latin American nation: “Yankee go home. Leave the money.”
Because pro-Puerto Rico statehood legislation has been reintroduced in the 110th Congress, both the people of America and the people of Puerto Rico must understand what is at stake in this debate.

The Board of Directors of Oath Keepers, Inc. has decided against participating in the “Restore the Constitution” rally in Virginia near Washington D.C. scheduled for April 19, 2010. That rally is organized by a very honorable U.S. Marine Corps veteran who saw combat in Iraq, and who is also a patriotic member in Oath Keepers. The organizer is Daniel Almond of the Georgia Oath Keepers Chapter. Oath Keepers salutes Daniel Almond for organizing this pro-Constitution rally.
Oath Keepers endorses Americans’ protected right to keep, and bear, arms. In keeping with our stance, Oath Keepers’ representatives have recently performed oath ceremonies at open-carry rallies at several State capitols, including before the capitol buildings in Kentucky and Montana. We fully support the right of Americans to peaceably assemble and publicly exercise their right to bear arms right along with their right to free speech, association, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.
However, because of published statements by some participants in the upcoming Virginia rally, Oath Keepers as an organization feels that a confrontational stance, such as has been published, places this event, in public perception, outside the terms of our stated and published mission. The mission of Oath Keepers is not to confront the government. Instead, our mission is to reach out to people within government – to police, military, firefighters and first responders – to teach them about their obligations under the oath they took to defend the Constitution, to increase their knowledge of the Constitution, and to inspire them to defend it by refusing to obey unconstitutional, unlawful orders. That’s it. And if we can reach enough of them with that message, it could prevent possible future egregious violations of the Bill of Rights in a very peaceful way.

In 1952, President Truman established one day a year as a “National Day of Prayer.”
In 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer.
In June 2007, (then) Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared that the USA was no longer a Christian nation.
This year President Obama, canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the rouse of “not wanting to offend anyone”.
On September 25, 2009, from 4 am until 7 pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. There were over 50,000 Muslims thatday in DC.
I guess itdoesn’t matter if “Christians” are offended by this event – we obviouslydon’t count as “anyone” anymore.
The direction this country is headed should strike fear in the heart of every Christian. Especially knowing that the Muslim religion believes that if Christians cannot beconverted they should be annihilated.

Some have said that the stimulus hasn’t saved any jobs, but here is a case where at least one job was saved. Oregon State University Athletic Director Bob DeCarolis was considering firing their basketball coach, Craig Robinson, after an 8-11 start (2-5 in the Pac 10 conference). When word of this reached Washington , Undersecretary of Education Martha Kanter was dispatched to Corvallis with $17 million in stimulus money for the university. Craig Robinson’s job is safe for this year. For those of you unfamiliar with Coach Robinson, he just so happens to be Michelle Obama’s brother. Just a coincidence I’m sure!

HERE’S THE SCOOP ON WHAT OBAMA INHERITED!
The Washington Post babbled again today about Obama inheriting a huge deficit from Bush, blah blah blah. Amazingly enough, a lot of people swallow this nonsense.
So once more, I’ll try a short civics lesson.
Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For FY 2009, though, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY 2009 budgets.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY 2009.
Let’s remember what the deficits looked like during that period:
If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the FY 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.
In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

Without going over the top here, I want to reinforce one simple idea that consolidates all of the activity recently.
Usually, we Americans “keep our eyes on the ball,” and that “ball” recently has been ObamaCare. Soon, it will be Cap and Tax, or whatever else the left is going to wave in front of us, not unlike a hypnotist saying, “Watch the watch!”
I would ask that you pay less attention to the “ball” for once, and look at the whole playing field. Please realize that these separate initiatives by the Obama administration are NOT singular entities; instead, they are a web that has been spun by several individuals behind the scenes, created to ensnare the American people.
The Progressives in Washington DC are using a method known as “gradualism,” just taking one little step every day towards their objective, hoping that we won’t notice, and even if we do, just become slightly upset, as they know if we woke up one day in a police state and Obama announced that we were operating under a Police State, declaring we were a Socialist/Communist nation state, that we would formulate an immediate revolutionary response, and all their plans would be instantly destroyed.
Every step along the way, with the health care initiative, carbon taxes, the so-called “green jobs,” erasing the borders with Canada and Mexico and willfully allowing illegal immigration and granting them amnesty…
… these are the small steps to Socialism. Listen to what legal Russian immigrants to America are saying. “Don’t the Americans realize that Obama is taking steps towards Socialism or Communism?! Why don’t they wake up?!” You see, they really know what it is to be slaves to the Government.
I suggest you all wake up, and wake up your friends, neighbors, family, and the people you go to church with.

TIME FOR DRASTIC MEASURES

Now that Democrats have needlessly (and illegally) destroyed the free market health care system that 84% of us were happy with, we have only 4 options left before things get ugly:
1) Vote them out in 2010. This option requires much patience and will not actually mean anything unless those elected actually reverse all the spending, bailouts and takeovers.
Most likely, Democrats will be punished for a few years while Republicans ride the tidal wave of public outrage into office, at which point they will throw us some symbolic scraps from the table, rather than making a serious commitment to uprooting federal tyranny.
2) Legal challenge in the courts. There is a chance that the Supreme Court could reverse parts of this law based on the “Commerce Clause” debate (a few states being bribed and blackmailed into submission at the expense of all the others).
3) Nullification. This is where states stand up for their 10th Amendment rights and declare that, since this law is blatantly unconstitutional, they refuse to acknowledge that it was even passed.
And no, the Founders never intended for the federal government to be the sole determiner of the size and scope of its own power. State nullification was always intended as a natural check against federal encroachments.
If the federal government defies a legitimate nullification action, which it will, then this could lead into a secessionist movement, but it is more likely that even the most defiant states will just cave in. As I have noted, however, the majority of states have already introduced some form of sovereignty movement.
4) Civil (or un-civil) disobedience. For this not to backfire, it requires numbers, coordination and legitimacy in the eyes of the people. ObamaCare will offer many such opportunities (people being denied health care, punished for not buying insurance, etc.).
As government needlessly dismantles the free market system that 84% of us are happy with and replaces it with more than a hundred new federal bureaucracies to control and manipulate every aspect of our lives (while exempting themselves, of course), we have to ask ourselves how far we are willing to go to defend our republic (and our economy) from such extreme tyranny.
It is, after all, our republic.
Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence that when government becomes adversarial to the interests of The People, it is both the right and the responsibility of The People to rise up and “alter or abolish” that government.
The Founders revolted over taxation without representation, and after Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts…and all the polls, and Democrats still having to openly bribe and blackmail their own super-majority into voting for this treason, I would say we are pretty much there.
It is time to step up and take back what is ours. Hopefully, this can still be done peacefully.

From South Philadelphia to Seattle, everybody had an opinion on whether one should have to order a meal in English, and the friction bubbled to the surface again a couple of weeks back when presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani stopped by for a bite. We recently sat down with Geno’s owner Joey Vento to find out, among other things, whether the criticism hurt him or his business. After all, whether you agree with his views or not, it’s best to know thy neighbor and thy enemy.
City Paper: Did last year’s controversy affect business at all?
Joey Vento: It increased it. I get a lot more people coming in and when they’re coming in, it’s to show support.
CP: Has the community for the most part responded positively or negatively to you?
JV: Well, I’ve received negative responses, but let’s put it this way: For every negative response, I’m getting hundreds of positive responses. Every day I get phone calls, and invites to radio stations or TV shows.
CP: You recently sat down and had a sandwich with presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani. Anything you can disclose?
JV: Well, I’ll say this: Rudy and I have the same views on immigration.
CP: Where do you stand on immigration?
JV: I want the illegals out. Send them all out of the country. We need to cut down all the red tape involved in getting legal immigrants over here: the ones who want to assimilate, who want to learn the language. It’s a fallacy that the jobs the illegals work wouldn’t be claimed by anybody else. These jobs were always for the uneducated, the unskilled. In order to move out of these positions, you got an education or you developed a skill or trade. Now, what these illegal immigrants are doing is undercutting these positions. They’re undercutting the minimum wage and pushing Americans out of jobs. And businesses — they’re undercutting these workers’ pay, they’re not putting them on the books, they’re not paying taxes on these individuals, so they’re pocketing that money — and they should be punished for that.
CP: The [discrimination] case that the HRC brought against you was recently postponed. What’s going on there?
JV: Nothing. Really, they should back off. I told ‘em you have your right to free speech, I have the right to mine. If you don’t like it, hey, there’s a steak shop across the street. Look, we help everybody, nobody’s ever been refused service. People seem to miss that point.

Geno’s Steaks was started by Joe Vento back in 1966. CALL FOR ACORN TO CEASE OPERATIONS IN OHIO BY 6/1/2010

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The community organizing group ACORN has agreed to permanently give up its business license in Ohio, under a settlement with a libertarian organization.
The 1851 Center for Constitutional Law had filed a lawsuit against the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, ACORN’s full name. The suit alleged that ACORN’s voter registration drives amounted to organized crime because the group turned in a pattern of fraudulent forms.
Attorney Maurice Thompson with the 1815 Center calls the settlement mostly confidential but says it calls for ACORN to cease operating in Ohio by June 1.
ACORN attorney Alphonse Gerhardstein says the group denies any wrongdoing in Ohio. He says ACORN has already pulled out of the state for reasons unrelated to the lawsuit.

The GOP must have known what was about to happen next because they were united in voting “Nay” against this bill on November 21, 2009. Additionally, the Senate Amendment offered by Reid was none other than the Senate version of the healthcare bill.
Reid HAD to do this. Why? Because all legislation that raises taxes MUST originate in the House of Representatives and H.R. 3590 satisfies that requirement.
I will repeat that, Harry Reid switched the language in H.R. 3590 and replaced it with the Senate’s version of the health care system takeover in order to satisfy the requirement for all legislation raising taxes to originate in the House. The bill summary outlines the evolution of this bill:
OFFICIAL TITLE AS INTRODUCED:
To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for other purposes.
OFFICIAL TITLE AS AMENDED BY SENATE:
An act entitled The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
For the record, Republicans did challenge this amendment substitution, but were defeated. The simple fact that the Democrats voted on Reid’s “amendment” is appalling and demonstrates their condoning of the abuses we are seeing unfold. Democrat Senators are now willing accomplices to the destruction and socialization of the US health system.
The deceptive practices to pass a government takeover of healthcare can be summed up as the ultimate betrayal by the Democrats against the American people in order to ram through their progressive, socialistic, freedom-stripping policies.
Furthermore, the Democrats talk of “reconciliation” or the nuclear option is nothing more than a diversion from what the real goal is–to pass the Senate version through the House and then have Obama sign it into law.
And once signed into law, does anyone really think that Obama will keep his promises of the “fixes” through the reconciliation process after he got what he wanted via the Senate bill? Seriously, he will have the healthcare takeover he wants, so why make the House and Senate suffer more.
In addition, I don’t think that the House will hold the bill to work out differences between the two chambers as is being floated. While it may be an optional maneuver, the Democrats need the tax increases to take effect now so they can offset some of their rabid spending.
The House Democrats have a choice: either stand with the American people and kill the bill or endorse the deception, betrayal, and bribes of Harry Reid, Obama, Pelosi, and the Senate Democrats, in addition to the destruction of the US health system. Either way, the American people will never forget.

URGENT HEALTHCARE ALERT

Dear Healthcare concerned friends.
We have reached what appears to be the last two weeks of the fight. Nancy Pelosi is even talking about trying to hold the vote as early as Tuesday March 11, 2009. Now is the time to take action to try and kill the healthcare bill once and for all. The White House is spinning what they think are the advantages of the bill. The President’s Proposal takes the worst of both the House and Senate bills and combines them into something more destructive. It includes more taxes, more subsidies and even less cost control than the Senate bill. And it “solves” the special interest favors in the Senate bill (Nebraska, Louisiana, etc.) not by eliminating them-but by expanding them to all the States. If the bill passes here are some of the projected effects:
• 30 million new patients with few new doctors. How long will it take to see your doctor?
• A $500 billion cut in Medicare Advantage. If you have that coverage now it will change.
• Uninsured will be required to pay up to $8500 to buy policies and if they don’t they will be fined 2.5% of their income.
• Forecasts are that the changes will increase premiums for some but not all by as much as $2,000 a year.
The proposed Federal Board to reject any rate increase that “is unreasonable or unjustified”. This will reduce competition not increase it as the insurance companies decide to not conduct business in expensive states.
The President’s acceptance of the Senate’s “grandfather clause” that allows people who like their current plan to keep their plan has a coercive flavor in the wording: The President’s Proposal adds certain “consumer protections” to the grandfathered plans. It requires plans…prohibits…mandates…requires…adds new provisions that prohibit…ban…and prohibit! After all of these dictates, no “grandfathered” plan will exist.
• Add $500 billion to the federal deficit (by 2024)
• Cut reimbursement to doctors who order too many tests for patients
• Protocols of care to deny costly treatments based on how many
“Quality Adjusted Life Years” remain
• Raise income taxes and capital gains by 2.5%
• Tax medical devices like pacemakers and automated wheelchairs
• The long-term effect will inevitably lead to Health care rationing

IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP THE UNINSURED, SCRAP THE BILL THAT HAS ALL THE PORK IN IT. PASS A SIMPLE BILL ESTABLISHING GOVERNMENT RUN CLINICS USING THE PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE. UNINSURED HAVE TO GO TO THE PUBLIC CLINIC THEY CAN’T GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM UNLESS IT IS A TRUE LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION. THIS APPROACH IS COST EFFECTIVE AND WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California, was doing some personal work on her own family tree.
She discovered that Congressman Harry Reid’s great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.
The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows in Montana territory:
On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: ‘Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times.
Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.’
So Judy recently e-mailed Congressman Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle.
Believe it or not, Harry Reid’s staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her genealogy research:
“Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad.
In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency.
In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed.”

Policy Platform:
Many Americans were hoping for a serious change from the previous eight years of Bush’s policies, instead they have been sadly subjected to nothing but more of the same. The Obama administration has, contrary to the demand of the vast majority of Americans, continued to push the same financial schemes responsible for the hyper-inflationary collapse of the entire monetary system, with full criminal complicity of Democratic congressional leaders such as Barney ‘Bailout’ Frank and House Speaker Pelosi. This policy disaster, tantamount to treason, has resulted in massive unemployment, an explosion in home foreclosures, and a further take-down of our nation’s physical production and endangered machine-tool sector, all despite trillions of dollars in bailouts for Wall St. and London-centered financial interests.
My campaign forcefully rejects the present failed policies, and supports instead the immediate implementation of the economic recovery solutions long proposed by American statesman, and the world’s leading economic forecaster, Lyndon LaRouche. Likewise, the following policies are not meant to illustrate wishful thinking, whose fulfillment is promised at some later date after an election, but rather represent the actions for survival my campaign is organizing the population around right now. We cannot wait until the November 2010 election, or a January 2011 inauguration, to begin reversing the policies that have brought our country to the brink of ruin.

Manned Space Program:
The 22nd Congressional district of Texas is home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, a national treasure, and the key to the future greatness of America. My campaign will put space and scientific development back at the top of our nation’s list of priorities. A fully-funded NASA energized by a serious manned Moon/Mars colonization project could spearhead a real economic recovery by emphasizing the rapid and massive creation of productive and meaningful employment in the scientific, machine-tool, and related industrial sectors. A real Moon/Mars project would revolutionize overall current methods in physical economic production, which could be used to free our policy making away from the failed monetarist assumptions of the now bankrupt Globalized Free-Market system.
Bankruptcy Reorganization:
For any recovery to work, the entire financial-monetary system, and its hopelessly bankrupt institutions such as the Federal Reserve, must first be put through a complete bankruptcy reorganization in accordance with traditional Glass-Steagall banking standards and coupled with a return to uniquely American form of constitutional credit system. Under such standards, all legitimate debts will be honored and useful banking functions and accounts protected, while on the other hand all purely fictitious, speculative and otherwise worthless paper debt will be written off.
Productive Jobs:
We must enact the authority of Congress, as laid out by our U.S. Federal Constitution, to issue federal credit for various national infrastructure projects. Such federally issued credit will be primarily directed into investments in large-scale infrastructure projects such as, but not limited to, high-speed rail, rapid construction of new nuclear power plants, great water projects, etc.. Our youth need the skills, discipline, and grounded sense of self that only gainful employment in science, industry and agriculture can provide.

BACK ON UNCLE SAM’S PLANTATION!!!

Six years ago I wrote a book called Uncle Sam’s Plantation. (http://www.amazon.com/Uncle-Sams-Plantation-Government-Enslaves/dp/0785262199)
I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.
I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas — a poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.
I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps.
A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960s by Democrats, that were going to lift the nation’s poor out of poverty.
A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from “How do I take care of myself?” to “What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?”
Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems — the kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others.
The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools, and broken black families.
Through God’s grace, I found my way out. It was then that I understood what freedom meant and how great this country is.
I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996 which was passed by a Republican controlled Congress.
I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth-producingAmerican capitalism.
But, incredibly, we are now going in the opposite direction.
Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.
Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, “Thank you, Suh.”
Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.
There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.
Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executivesseem happy to move onto the plantation.
In an op-Ed on the opinion page of theWashington Post, Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short term economic stimulus.
“This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending — it’s a strategy for America ’s long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, healthcare, and education.”
Perhaps more incredibly, Obama seems to think that government taking over an economy is a new idea. Or that massive growth in government can take place “with unprecedented transparency and accountability.”
Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the Department of Energy, the Synfuels Corporation, and the Department of Education.
Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 — The War on Poverty — whichPresident Johnson said “…does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done. It charts a new course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty.”
Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same.. But black families are not, with triple the incidence of single-parent homes and out-of-wedlock births.
It’s not complicated. Americans can acceptBarack Obama’s invitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal responsibility and freedom.
Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be? “The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

JOE STACK’S MANIFESTO

If you’re reading this, you’re no doubt asking yourself, “Why did this have to happen?” The simple truth is that it is complicated and has been coming for a long time. The writing process, started many months ago, was intended to be therapy in the face of the looming realization that there isn’t enough therapy in the world that can fix what is really broken. Needless to say, this rant could fill volumes with example after example if I would let it. I find the process of writing it frustrating, tedious, and probably pointless… especially given my gross inability to gracefully articulate my thoughts in light of the storm raging in my head. Exactly what is therapeutic about that I’m not sure, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
We are all taught as children that without laws there would be no society, only anarchy. Sadly, starting at early ages we in this country have been brainwashed to believe that, in return for our dedication and service, our government stands for justice for all. We are further brainwashed to believe that there is freedom in this place, and that we should be ready to lay our lives down for the noble principals represented by its founding fathers. Remember? One of these was “no taxation without representation”. I have spent the total years of my adulthood unlearning that crap from only a few years of my childhood. These days anyone who really stands up for that principal is promptly labeled a “crackpot”, traitor and worse.
While very few working people would say they haven’t had their fair share of taxes (as can I), in my lifetime I can say with a great degree of certainty that there has never been a politician cast a vote on any matter with the likes of me or my interests in mind. Nor, for that matter, are they the least bit interested in me or anything I have to say.
Why is it that a handful of thugs and plunderers can commit unthinkable atrocities (and in the case of the GM executives, for scores of years) and when it’s time for their gravy train to crash under the weight of their gluttony and overwhelming stupidity, the force of the full federal government has no difficulty coming to their aid within days if not hours? Yet at the same time, the joke we call the American medical system, including the drug and insurance companies, are murdering tens of thousands of people a year and stealing from the corpses and victims they cripple, and this country’s leaders don’t see this as important as bailing out a few of their vile, rich cronies. Yet, the political “representatives” (thieves, liars, and self-serving scumbags is far more accurate) have endless time to sit around for year after year and debate the state of the “terrible health care problem”. It’s clear they see no crisis as long as the dead people don’t get in the way of their corporate profits rolling in.
And justice? You’ve got to be kidding!
How can any rational individual explain that white elephant conundrum in the middle of our tax system and, indeed, our entire legal system? Here we have a system that is, by far, too complicated for the brightest of the master scholars to understand. Yet, it mercilessly “holds accountable” its victims, claiming that they’re responsible for fully complying with laws not even the experts understand. The law “requires” a signature on the bottom of a tax filing; yet no one can say truthfully that they understand what they are signing; if that’s not “duress” than what is. If this is not the measure of a totalitarian regime, nothing is.
How did I get here?
My introduction to the real American nightmare starts back in the early ‘80s. Unfortunately after more than 16 years of school, somewhere along the line I picked up the absurd, pompous notion that I could read and understand plain English. Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions. In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy. We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the “best”, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the “big boys” were doing (except that we weren’t steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God). We took a great deal of care to make it all visible, following all of the rules, exactly the way the law said it was to be done.
The intent of this exercise and our efforts was to bring about a much-needed re-evaluation of the laws that allow the monsters of organized religion to make such a mockery of people who earn an honest living. However, this is where I learned that there are two “interpretations” for every law; one for the very rich, and one for the rest of us… Oh, and the monsters are the very ones making and enforcing the laws; the inquisition is still alive and well today in this country.
That little lesson in patriotism cost me $40,000+, 10 years of my life, and set my retirement plans back to 0. It made me realize for the first time that I live in a country with an ideology that is based on a total and complete lie. It also made me realize, not only how naive I had been, but also the incredible stupidity of the American public; that they buy, hook, line, and sinker, the crap about their “freedom”… and that they continue to do so with eyes closed in the face of overwhelming evidence and all that keeps happening in front of them.
Before even having to make a shaky recovery from the sting of the first lesson on what justice really means in this country (around 1984 after making my way through engineering school and still another five years of “paying my dues”), I felt I finally had to take a chance of launching my dream of becoming an independent engineer.
On the subjects of engineers and dreams of independence, I should digress somewhat to say that I’m sure that I inherited the fascination for creative problem solving from my father. I realized this at a very young age.
The significance of independence, however, came much later during my early years of college; at the age of 18 or 19 when I was living on my own as student in an apartment in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. My neighbor was an elderly retired woman (80+ seemed ancient to me at that age) who was the widowed wife of a retired steel worker. Her husband had worked all his life in the steel mills of central Pennsylvania with promises from big business and the union that, for his 30 years of service, he would have a pension and medical care to look forward to in his retirement. Instead he was one of the thousands who got nothing because the incompetent mill management and corrupt union (not to mention the government) raided their pension funds and stole their retirement. All she had was social security to live on.
In retrospect, the situation was laughable because here I was living on peanut butter and bread (or Ritz crackers when I could afford to splurge) for months at a time. When I got to know this poor figure and heard her story I felt worse for her plight than for my own (I, after all, I thought I had everything to in front of me). I was genuinely appalled at one point, as we exchanged stories and commiserated with each other over our situations, when she in her grandmotherly fashion tried to convince me that I would be “healthier” eating cat food (like her) rather than trying to get all my substance from peanut butter and bread. I couldn’t quite go there, but the impression was made. I decided that I didn’t trust big business to take care of me, and that I would take responsibility for my own future and myself.
Return to the early ‘80s, and here I was off to a terrifying start as a ‘wet-behind-the-ears’ contract software engineer… and two years later, thanks to the fine backroom, midnight effort by the sleazy executives of Arthur Andersen (the very same folks who later brought us Enron and other such calamities) and an equally sleazy New York Senator (Patrick Moynihan), we saw the passage of 1986 tax reform act with its section 1706.
For you who are unfamiliar, here is the core text of the IRS Section 1706, defining the treatment of workers (such as contract engineers) for tax purposes. SEC. 1706. TREATMENT OF CERTAIN TECHNICAL PERSONNEL.
(a) IN GENERAL – Section 530 of the Revenue Act of 1978 is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new subsection:
(d) EXCEPTION. – This section shall not apply in the case of an individual who pursuant to an arrangement between the taxpayer and another person, provides services for such other person as an engineer, designer, drafter, computer programmer, systems analyst, or other similarly skilled worker engaged in a similar line of work.
(b) EFFECTIVE DATE. – The amendment made by this section shall apply to remuneration paid and services rendered after December 31, 1986.
Note:
· “another person” is the client in the traditional job-shop relationship.
· “taxpayer” is the recruiter, broker, agency, or job shop.
· “individual”, “employee”, or “worker” is you.
Admittedly, you need to read the treatment to understand what it is saying but it’s not very complicated. The bottom line is that they may as well have put my name right in the text of section (d). Moreover, they could only have been more blunt if they would have came out and directly declared me a criminal and non-citizen slave. Twenty years later, I still can’t believe my eyes.
During 1987, I spent close to $5000 of my ‘pocket change’, and at least 1000 hours of my time writing, printing, and mailing to any senator, congressman, governor, or slug that might listen; none did, and they universally treated me as if I was wasting their time. I spent countless hours on the L.A. freeways driving to meetings and any and all of the disorganized professional groups who were attempting to mount a campaign against this atrocity. This, only to discover that our efforts were being easily derailed by a few moles from the brokers who were just beginning to enjoy the windfall from the new declaration of their “freedom”. Oh, and don’t forget, for all of the time I was spending on this, I was loosing income that I couldn’t bill clients.
After months of struggling it had clearly gotten to be a futile exercise. The best we could get for all of our trouble is a pronouncement from an IRS mouthpiece that they weren’t going to enforce that provision (read harass engineers and scientists). This immediately proved to be a lie, and the mere existence of the regulation began to have its impact on my bottom line; this, of course, was the intended effect.
Again, rewind my retirement plans back to 0 and shift them into idle. If I had any sense, I clearly should have left abandoned engineering and never looked back.
Instead I got busy working 100-hour workweeks. Then came the L.A. depression of the early 1990s. Our leaders decided that they didn’t need the all of those extra Air Force bases they had in Southern California, so they were closed; just like that. The result was economic devastation in the region that rivaled the widely publicized Texas S&L fiasco. However, because the government caused it, no one gave a shit about all of the young families who lost their homes or street after street of boarded up houses abandoned to the wealthy loan companies who received government funds to “shore up” their windfall. Again, I lost my retirement.
Years later, after weathering a divorce and the constant struggle trying to build some momentum with my business, I find myself once again beginning to finally pick up some speed. Then came the .COM bust and the 911 nightmare. Our leaders decided that all aircraft were grounded for what seemed like an eternity; and long after that, ‘special’ facilities like San Francisco were on security alert for months. This made access to my customers prohibitively expensive. Ironically, after what they had done the Government came to the aid of the airlines with billions of our tax dollars … as usual they left me to rot and die while they bailed out their rich, incompetent cronies WITH MY MONEY! After these events, there went my business but not quite yet all of my retirement and savings.
By this time, I’m thinking that it might be good for a change. Bye to California, I’ll try Austin for a while. So I moved, only to find out that this is a place with a highly inflated sense of self-importance and where damn little real engineering work is done. I’ve never experienced such a hard time finding work. The rates are 1/3 of what I was earning before the crash, because pay rates here are fixed by the three or four large companies in the area who are in collusion to drive down prices and wages… and this happens because the justice department is all on the take and doesn’t give a fuck about serving anyone or anything but themselves and their rich buddies.
To survive, I was forced to cannibalize my savings and retirement, the last of which was a small IRA. This came in a year with mammoth expenses and not a single dollar of income. I filed no return that year thinking that because I didn’t have any income there was no need. The sleazy government decided that they disagreed. But they didn’t notify me in time for me to launch a legal objection so when I attempted to get a protest filed with the court I was told I was no longer entitled to due process because the time to file ran out. Bend over for another $10,000 helping of justice.
So now we come to the present. After my experience with the CPA world, following the business crash I swore that I’d never enter another accountant’s office again. But here I am with a new marriage and a boatload of undocumented income, not to mention an expensive new business asset, a piano, which I had no idea how to handle. After considerable thought I decided that it would be irresponsible NOT to get professional help; a very big mistake.
When we received the forms back I was very optimistic that they were in order. I had taken all of the years information to Bill Ross, and he came back with results very similar to what I was expecting. Except that he had neglected to include the contents of Sheryl’s unreported income; $12,700 worth of it. To make matters worse, Ross knew all along this was missing and I didn’t have a clue until he pointed it out in the middle of the audit. By that time it had become brutally evident that he was representing himself and not me.
This left me stuck in the middle of this disaster trying to defend transactions that have no relationship to anything tax-related (at least the tax-related transactions were poorly documented). Things I never knew anything about and things my wife had no clue would ever matter to anyone. The end result is… well, just look around.
I remember reading about the stock market crash before the “great” depression and how there were wealthy bankers and businessmen jumping out of windows when they realized they screwed up and lost everything. Isn’t it ironic how far we’ve come in 60 years in this country that they now know how to fix that little economic problem; they just steal from the middle class (who doesn’t have any say in it, elections are a joke) to cover their asses and it’s “business-as-usual”. Now when the wealthy fuck up, the poor get to die for the mistakes… isn’t that a clever, tidy solution.
As government agencies go, the FAA is often justifiably referred to as a tombstone agency, though they are hardly alone. The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government. Nothing changes unless there is a body count (unless it is in the interest of the wealthy sows at the government trough). In a government full of hypocrites from top to bottom, life is as cheap as their lies and their self-serving laws.
I know I’m hardly the first one to decide I have had all I can stand. It has always been a myth that people have stopped dying for their freedom in this country, and it isn’t limited to the blacks, and poor immigrants. I know there have been countless before me and there are sure to be as many after. But I also know that by not adding my body to the count, I insure nothing will change. I choose to not keep looking over my shoulder at “big brother” while he strips my carcass, I choose not to ignore what is going on all around me, I choose not to pretend that business as usual won’t continue; I have just had enough.
I can only hope that the numbers quickly get too big to be white washed and ignored that the American zombies wake up and revolt; it will take nothing less. I would only hope that by striking a nerve that stimulates the inevitable double standard, knee-jerk government reaction that results in more stupid draconian restrictions people wake up and begin to see the pompous political thugs and their mindless minions for what they are. Sadly, though I spent my entire life trying to believe it wasn’t so, but violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer. The cruel joke is that the really big chunks of shit at the top have known this all along and have been laughing, at and using this awareness against, fools like me all along.
I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well.

“MY DAD’S A HERO”

AUSTIN, Texas — The daughter of a man who crashed his small plane into a building housing offices of the Internal Revenue Service called her father a hero for his anti-government views but said his actions, which killed an IRS employee, were “inappropriate.”
Joe Stack’s adult daughter, Samantha Bell, spoke to ABC’s “Good Morning America” from her home in Norway. Asked during a phone interview broadcast Monday if she considered her father a hero, she said: “Yes. Because now maybe people will listen.”
Authorities say Stack, 53, targeted the IRS office building in Austin on Thursday, killing employee Vernon Hunter and himself, after posting a ranting manifesto against the agency and the government. He apparently set fire to his home before flying his plane into the office building.
Hunter’s son, Ken Hunter, said he’s alarmed by comments that the pilot was a hero.
“How can you call someone a hero who after he burns down his house, he gets into his plane … and flies it into a building to kill people?” Hunter told ABC.” “My dad Vernon did two tours of duty in Vietnam. My dad’s a hero.”
Bell said she offered her deepest condolences to Hunter’s family. She said her father’s last actions were wrong.
“But if nobody comes out and speaks up on behalf of injustice, then nothing will ever be accomplished,” she told ABC. “But I do not agree with his last action with what he did. But I do agree about the government.”

Explosion In The 6th Congressional District: Could The Implausible Occur?
Is State Rep. Curt Schroder A Dark Horse For The Endorsement?

Hollywood couldn’t have scripted the drama any better in the GOP’s nomination race for Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District.
Try to follow along:
Four-term incumbent Jim Gerlach tells the world — repeatedly — that he would NOT seek re-election, opting instead to jump into the gubernatorial fray.
Based on Gerlach’s word, popular Chester County State Representative Curt Schroder announces he would seek the GOP nomination for the open seat, raising nearly $200,000 in just a few months. Based on political sources close to the race, he was clearly on the path to the Chester County endorsement. (Chesco accounts for a majority of the district, which also includes parts of Montgomery and Berks counties).
But in September of 2009, a wrench is thrown into the mix. After running in another congressional district for half a year, self-funding 33-year old millionaire Steve Welch bows to pressure from Party bosses, quitting his effort in the 7th Congressional District (CD) to make way for former gubernatorial candidate Pat Meehan, long a favorite of the Delco Machine. He then jumps into the 6th CD race, despite the fact that he does not live in that district.
After the New Year, Schroder, Welch, and several lower-tier candidates kick their campaigns into full gear, only to be shell shocked to learn that Jim Gerlach has changed his mind once again, and would be running for Congress after all.
Are you getting all of this?
Rep. Schroder, sensing fundraising difficulties if he chose to oppose the incumbent, begrudgingly dropped out of the race. Welch, with his ample funds, is still vying for the nomination.
So where does the race stand?
It’s anyone’s guess.
Over the last month, several straw polls of Chester County committee people provide a startling picture of the volatility in the Republican ranks. Gerlach received less than 60% of the vote in the first round, and only slightly more the following week. Given that these committee folks are the same ones who will vote to endorse a candidate at their convention this Saturday, Feb. 20th, (where 60% is necessary to earn the endorsement), and they have known the incumbent for well over a decade, many eyebrows have been raised. There is a growing sentiment that perhaps an election is in order — not a coronation.
Both candidates have major political baggage which makes the outcome of both the May primary and November general election far from certain.
Congressman Jim Gerlach
In a typical election year, the power and resources of incumbency trump most challengers, particularly in a primary. But 2010 is shaping up to be an explosive year where anything can happen, and no scenario is off the table.
That said, Gerlach retains the upper hand at this point. His name recognition is vastly superior to that of newcomer Welch, and his brand, for now, is still largely a positive one.
Remember that for the last eight years, Gerlach’s opponents and well-funded special interests have spent a fortune — a conservative estimate is well over $10 million — painting the congressman as a far-right-wing conservative Republican out of touch with the 6th District. Since Pennsylvania’s GOP primary is a closed one, meaning only Republicans can vote in it, that label is not a bad one to have.
Combine that with Gerlach’s proven ability to win general elections in otherwise horrid years for Republicans (2006 and 2008), and it’s hard to argue with conventional wisdom that the incumbent will once again triumph.
But things have changed, and Gerlach is carrying some new negatives which could prove decisive in the primary—and perhaps the general.
For starters, the campaign is broke. Since Gerlach’s warchest was transferred to help fund his failed gubernatorial bid, the congressional campaign had only $5,000 cash on hand as of just a few weeks ago, although staffers claim they have commitments for several hundred thousand dollars.
Against a typical opponent, the lack of funds at this point might not be a huge issue. But against a self-funder like Welch, who has already pumped in over $500,000 of his own fortune and has $650,000 cash on hand — with millions more if he needs it—, the lack of a significant warchest should be disconcerting to Gerlach.
On the issues, Gerlach will have to deal with conservatives’ wrath because of his voting record in a number of hot-button areas. The Congressman voted in favor of TARP (the first major bailout), the Medicare Prescription Drug program, commonly described as one of the largest expansion of welfare benefits in U.S. history, and Cash for Clunkers, while major increases in the deficit and national debt occurred on his watch. And here’s the kicker for many fiscal conservatives: much of this spending took place while Republicans were in charge of the House, Senate and White House.
If Gerlach can be tied into the “Business As Usual” crowd that is “part of the problem,” with voters believing that it shouldn’t just be an anti-Democrat year but an anti-incumbent one, he could be the recipient of a severe voter backlash.
But the one issue above all that could doom Gerlach is his support for Card Check, the bill proposed by labor unions that, among other provisions, would eliminate the secret ballot in union elections. Card Check is such a make-or-break topic for a huge number of Republicans that this issue alone could be enough to topple an incumbent.
According to the AFL-CIO website, Gerlach, along with former GOP colleagues Curt Weldon and Mike Fitzpatrick, all signed on as sponsors of Card Check in 2006. However, the Gerlach campaign denies that he favors Card Check, pointing to his vote in 2007 against the bill.
But in this environment, playing coy and stretching the truth could put an incumbent on the unemployment line very quickly.
The reality is that these three Republicans played games in 2005 and 2006, deciding to take both sides. Figuring that the GOP would be in power for decades (a woefully short-sighted outlook), Gerlach and Company thought that they could appease Big Labor by signing onto a bill that would never see the light of day.
Which was correct, for about another year, until Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats were swept into power.
His 2007 vote against Card Check has done little to mollify conservatives, who continue to think Gerlach’s heart leans toward Labor.
Despite meaningless polls showing Gerlach with a sizable lead over his unknown opponent, the potential of millions being unleashed on the 6th District Republicans in the coming weeks by Steve Welch, combined with many who are still fuming because of Gerlach’s broken word on retiring from Congress and backstabbing Curt Schroder, makes this race not just far from over, but one that hasn’t even begun.
Steve Welch
New to the political scene, Welch comes to the table with the most important weapon in campaigns: money. After selling his successful bio-tech company for a large sum, he decided on a foray into politics as his next professional move.
For six months, he ran unopposed in the 7th District, where Democratic incumbent Joe Sestak is not seeking re-election. Instead, Sestak is challenging Arlen Specter for U.S. Senate. The open seat became quite attractive for Pat Meehan, whose gubernatorial bid never got off the ground.
It’s here that Welch’s baggage began to pile up.
After repeatedly stating that he would remain in the 7th District race, even against a Meehan challenge, Welch yielded to Party pressure and abandoned the race. His decision to change his sights to the 6th District, even though he was not a resident, was viewed by many as a failure in his first real test of independence. Instead of standing by his principles, he caved in to the Delaware and Chester County party bosses.
The carpet-bagger issue was so difficult to overcome that Welch moved into the 6th District several months ago.
And even though the residency issue has been resolved, Welch continues to feel Republican wrath on a number of other issues.
First, he played loose with the truth when he claimed to have raised more than $250,000, when public records showed that number to be only $50,000. It’s one thing to slightly round up fundraising numbers, but such a huge discrepancy rubbed many the wrong way. This was the kind of doublespeak that voters have come to expect from Congress.
(NOTE: In all likelihood, Gerlach did the same thing. After claiming he had raised $1 million in the governor’s race, campaign finance disclosures put that number at a quarter million dollars less.)
Much more detrimental to Welch, though, is his Democratic past —the very recent past. Many GOP activists are having a difficult time reconciling how Welch can be part of the solution for the Republican Party when he:
A) Gave money to Democrat Joe Sestak. And Sestak is no ordinary Democrat, but one of the few who can make Arlen Specter look conservative.
B) Registered as a Democrat in 2006, and remained a D through the 2008 election, switching back to the GOP before running for Congress.
C) Admitted voting for Barack Obama in the 2008 primary election.
Given these facts, it’s a tough sell for Welch to claim he is a “lifelong” Republican.
While money doesn’t solve everything, it keeps one in the game. Whether or not Welch’s funds can alleviate his major negatives remains to be seen.
If he is able to make a strong showing at the nominating convention, and makes Jim Gerlach the issue for why a change is needed, he remains a serious threat to the incumbent.
But the $64,000 question is whether committee people and the Republican voters of the 6th District will:
A) determine that Gerlach is damaged goods and needs to go, and
B) if Steve Welch, with his Democratic ties, is the answer.
For those looking for another option, chew on this possibility:
What if, at this week’s convention, a committee person decides that enough is enough with candidates whose veracity and judgment are seriously flawed, and nominates a candidate with a solid Republican track record? Someone with the credentials and experience necessary to represent the 6th District better than the current field?
What if someone nominates State Representative Curt Schroder?
He may yet have the support of the committee, and could, at the very least, deny the endorsement to Gerlach or Welch.
Crazy? Sure— in most election years. But so was the unthinkable result in Massachusetts with Scott Brown’s victory.
This is 2010. Change is already upon us, and the rising tide may yet turn into a raging tsunami.

“LESSONS FROM ARGENTINA”

In the early 20th century, Argentina was one of the richest countries in the world. While Great Britain ’s maritime power and its far-flung empire had propelled it to a dominant position among the world’s industrialized nations, only the United States challenged Argentina for the position of the world’s second-most powerful economy.
It was blessed with abundant agriculture, vast swaths of rich farmland laced with navigable rivers and an accessible port system. Its level of industrialization was higher than many European countries: railroads, automobiles and telephones were commonplace.
In 1916, a new president was elected. Hipólito Irigoyen had formed a party called The Radicals under the banner of “fundamental change” with an appeal to the middle class. (“Fundamental change”… now where have I heard that?)
Among Irigoyen’s changes: mandatory pension insurance, mandatory health insurance, and support for low-income housing construction to stimulate the economy. Put simply, the state assumed economic control of a vast swath of the country’s operations and began assessing new payroll taxes to fund its efforts. (Beginning to sound more familiar?)
With an increasing flow of funds into these entitlement programs, the government’s payouts soon became overly generous. Before long its outlays surpassed the value of the taxpayers’ contributions. Put simply, it quickly became under-funded, much like our Social Security and Medicare programs. (And, more!)
The death knell for the Argentine economy, however, came with the election of Juan Perón. Perón had a fascist and corporatist upbringing; he and his charismatic wife aimed their populist rhetoric at the nation’s rich. (Still more!)
This targeted group “swiftly expanded to cover most of the propertied middle classes, who became an enemy to be defeated and humiliated.” (And, more!)
Under Perón, the size of government bureaucracies exploded through massive programs of social spending and by encouraging the growth of labor unions. (Do you see the light?)
High taxes and economic mismanagement took their inevitable toll even after Perón had been driven from office. But his populist rhetoric and “contempt for economic realities” lived on. Argentina’s federal government continued to spend far beyond its means. (That can’t happen here!)
Hyperinflation exploded in 1989, the final stage of a process characterized by “industrial protectionism, redistribution of income based on increased wages, and growing state intervention in the economy…” (Never!)
The Argentinean government’s practice of printing money to pay off its public debts had crushed the economy. Inflation hit 3000%, reminiscent of the Weimar Republic . Food riots were rampant; stores were looted; the country descended into chaos. (Impossible!)
And by 1994, Argentina ’s public pensions — the equivalent of Social Security — had imploded. The payroll tax had increased from 5% to 26%, but it wasn’t enough. In addition, Argentina had implemented a value-added tax (VAT), new income taxes, a personal tax on wealth, and additional revenues based upon the sale of public enterprises. These crushed the private sector, further damaging the economy. (Only happens in those lesser countries! NOT us!)
A government-controlled “privatization” effort to rescue seniors’ pensions was attempted. But, by 2001, those funds had also been raided by the government, the monies replaced by Argentina ’s defaulted government bonds. (Hmmmm…. )
By 2002, “…government fiscal irresponsibility… induced a national economic crisis as severe as America ’s Great Depression.” (But, we won’t let that happen again… will we?)
We’ve seen this movie before. The politician’s populist plans NEVER work, because power corrupts and government bankrupts everything it touches. For those that will listen, history shouts over and over that we cannot sustain the wild spending and government takeover of business, banking, health care, and continue to inflate unfunded entitlement programs! Like history tells us, it will be utter and complete disaster!!!
Today’s politicians are guilty of more than arrogant stupidity; they are enslaving future generations to poverty and misery. And they will be long gone when it all implodes. They will be as cold and dead as Juan Perón when your children and grand children must ultimately pay for the blind arrogance of politicians!
PS… while working America cuts back… Congress just increased government expenditures by 12% in the “Omnibus” spending bill of nearly half a TRILLION!
Last year there was ONE person in the Dept. of Transportation making over $170,000!
This year that Dept. has 1690 people making over $170,000!

ARREST IN NEW YORK

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator.
At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.
‘Al-Gebra is a problem for us’, the Attorney General said. ‘They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values.’ They use secret code names like ‘X’ and ‘Y’ and refer to themselves as ‘unknowns’, but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, ‘There are 3 sides to every triangle’.
When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, ‘If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.’ White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President..

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from its death throes? He’s now 82 years old and has a new book, ‘Where Have All The Leaders Gone?’.
Lee Iacocca Says:
‘Am I the only guy in this country who’s fed up with what’s happening? Where the hell is our outrage with this so called president? We should be screaming bloody murder! We’ve got a gang of tax cheating clueless leftists trying to steer our ship of state right over a cliff, we’ve got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can’t even run a ridiculous cash-for-clunkers program without losing $26 billion of the taxpayers’ money, much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, ‘trust me the economy is getting better..’
Better? You’ve got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned, ‘Titanic’. I’ll give you a sound bite: ‘Throw all the Democrats out along with Obama!’

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs.. While we’re fiddling in Afghanistan, Iran is completing their nuclear bombs and missiles and nobody seems to know what to do. And the liberal press is waving ‘pom-poms’ instead of asking hard questions. That’s not the promise of the ‘America’ my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I’ve had enough. How about you?
I’ll go a step further. You can’t call yourself a patriot if you’re not outraged. This is a fight I’m ready and willing to have. The Biggest ‘C’ is Crisis! (Iacocca elaborates on nine C’s of leadership, with crisis being the first.)
Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It’s easy to sit there with thumb up your butt and talk theory. Or send someone else’s kids off to war when you’ve never seen a battlefield yourself. It’s another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.
On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A hell of a mess, so here’s where we stand.
We’re immersed in a bloody war now with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. But our soldiers are dying daily.
We’re running the biggest deficit in the history of the world, and it’s getting worse every day!
We’ve lost the manufacturing edge to Asia, while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs.
Gas prices are going to skyrock again, and nobody in power has a lucid plan to open drilling to solve the problem. This country has the largest oil reserves in the WORLD, and we cannot drill for it because the politicians have been bought by the flea-hugging environmentalists.
Our schools are in a complete disaster because of the teachers union.
- Our borders are like sieves and they want to give all illegals amnesty and free healthcare.
- The middle class is being squeezed to death every day.
- These are times that cry out for leadership.
But when you look around, you’ve got to ask: ‘Where have all the leaders gone?’ Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point.
Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo?
We’ve spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.
Everyone’s hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping the government will make it better for them. Now, that’s just crazy.. Deal with life.
Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when ‘The Big Three’ referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, look what Obama did about it!
Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debt, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.
I have news for the Chicago gangsters in Congress. We didn’t elect you to turn this country into a losing European Socialist state What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on NBC or CNN news will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don’t you guys show some spine for a change?
Had Enough? Hey, I’m not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I’m trying to light a fire. I’m speaking out because I have hope – I believe in America . In my lifetime, I’ve had the privilege of living through some of America ’s greatest moments. I’ve also experienced some of our worst crises: The ‘Great Depression,’ ‘World War II,’ the ‘Korean War,’ the ‘Kennedy Assassination,’ the ‘Vietnam War,’ the 1970’s oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years since 9/11.

Snopes.com is not giving the whole story!
I always suspected David and Barbara Mikkelson who were behind “Snopes” were Obama and liberal oriented –now we know!! Go to Google!! Who watches the watchers? Please read it all to the bottom! Guess we have to use “Truth or Fiction” now.
For the past few years – www.snopes.com – has positioned itself, or others have labeled it, as the ‘tell-all final word’ on any comment, claim and email. But for several years people tried to find out who exactly was behind snopes.com.
Only recently did Wikipedia get to the bottom of it – kinda makes you wonder what they were hiding . Well, finally we know . It is run by a husband and wife team – that’s right, no big office of investigators and researchers, no team of lawyers . It’s just a mom-and-pop operation that began as a hobby.
David and Barbara Mikkelson in the San Fernando Valley of California started the website about 13 years ago – and they have no formal background or experience in investigative research.
After a few years it gained popularity believing it to be unbiased and neutral, but over the past couple of years people started asking questions who was behind it and did they have a selfish motivation?
The reason for the questions – or skepticisms – is a result of snopes.com claiming to have the bottom line facts to certain questions or issue when in fact they have been proven wrong. Also, there were criticisms the Mikkelsons were not really investigating and getting to the ‘true’ bottom of various issues.
A few months ago, when my State Farm agent Bud Gregg in Mandeville hoisted a political sign referencing Barack Obamaand made a big splash across the Internet, ’supposedly’ the Mikkelson’s claim to have researched this issue before posting their findings on snopes.com. In their statement they claimed the corporate office of State Farm pressured Gregg into taking down the sign, when in fact nothing of the sort ‘ever’ took place.
I personally contacted David Mikkelson (and he replied back to me) thinking he would want to get to the bottom of this and I gave him Bud Gregg’s contact phone numbers ? and Bud was going to give him phone numbers to the big exec’s at State Farm in Illinois who would have been willing to speak with him about it.
He never called Bud . In fact, I learned from Bud Gregg no one from snopes.com ever contacted anyone with State Farm. Yet, snopes.com http://snopes.com/ issued a statement as the ‘final factual word’ on the issue as if they did all their homework and got to the bottom of things – not!
Then it has been learned the Mikkelson’s are very Democratic (party) and extremely liberal.
As we all now know from this presidential election, liberals have a purpose agenda to discredit anything that appears to be conservative. There has been much criticism lately over the Internet with people pointing out the Mikkelson’s liberalism revealing itself in their web site findings. Gee, what a shock?
So, I say this now to everyone who goes to snopes.com to get what they think to be the bottom line facts . . . proceed with caution. Take what it says at face value and nothing more.
Use it only to lead you to their references where you can link to and read the sources for yourself. Plus, you can always Google a subject and do the research yourself. It now seems apparent that’s all the Mikkelson’s do.
After all, I can personally vouch from my own experience for their ‘not’ fully looking into things

I have recently discovered that Snopes.com is owned by a flaming liberal and this man is in the tank for Obama . There are many things they have listed on their site as a hoax and yet you can go to Youtube yourself and find the video of Obama actually saying these things. So you see, you cannot and should not trust Snopes . com . . . . ever for anything that remotely resembles truth! I don’t even trust them to tell me if email chains are hoaxes anymore.
A few conservatives told me about snopes.com a few months ago and I took it upon myself to do a little research to find out if it was true. Well, I found out for myself that it is true.
Anyway just FYI please don’t use Snopes.com anymore for fact checking and make your friends aware of their political leanings as well.
Many people still think Snopes.com is neutral and they can be trusted as factual. We need to make sure everyone is aware: that Snopes is a hoax in itself.

OBAMA SETS TRAP!!

President Obama has set a trap, and it is absolutely imperative that we NOT fall into the trap.
Obama has invited Republicans to the Blair House on February 25, for a televised meeting to discuss ObamaCare. The President is seemingly saying all the right things — even suggesting this latest effort is going to be a “bipartisan” affair. But make no mistake, his agenda is to paint Republicans as the “Party of No” before making a final push to pass ObamaCare.
That’s because Obama is insisting on making his government-run scheme the starting point for discussions! This despitethe fact that his health care approval rating has free-fallen to 36 percent and Scott Brown’s election to the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat confirmed the public’s repudiation of ObamaCare.
- Obama has positively no intention of making this a truly bipartisan effort.
- This televised strategy is little more than a public relations stunt by a desperate Administration.
Republicans sense a trap. Rep. John Boehner sent the White House a letter saying Republicans are reluctant to participate if ObamaCare is the starting point. Rep. Tom Price said, ” The only constructive discussions will start with a blank sheet of paper.”
In fact, if the President were truly interested in helping the American people, he would scrap his plan, push aside political partisanship and special interests and bring something that we could support!
Americans need to send a message loud and clear to Congress:
NO HEALTHCARE TALKS UNTIL GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTHCARE IS D.O.A. AND OFFICIALLY OFF THE TABLE!
Send a message to your two Senators, your Representative AND the President — along with other key members of Congress. While the President is setting his trap for February 25, Democrats continue plotting their endgame to pass ObamaCare.
Just yesterday, Nancy Pelosi’s top healthcare policy aide openly discussed the plans to use “reconciliation” to have ObamaCare wrapped up by Easter.
This political slight-of-hand would have the House passing the Senate healthcare bill and then both chambers would pass a “fix it” bill using “reconciliation” which would only require 51 votes in the Senate.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have openly criticized employing such maneuver, but Democrats are desperate!
So while Obama and Congressional Democrats are finalizing their backroom deal to end-run the Massachusetts Miracle and pass ObamaCare, The President is openly talking about open discussions with Republicans!
Unless Americans express outrage and demand that a “Do Not Resuscitate” order be place on ObamaCare, Democrat leadership will continue with their “trap” and then move to pass their government takeover of healthcare.

DOUG WILDER: OBAMA NEEDS A STAFF SHAKEUP

During the 2008 campaign, I strongly endorsed Barack Obama for president. I did so early, when many Democratic leaders — including many prominent African-American politicians — believed the safe bet was to back then-front-runner Hillary Clinton.
I backed Obama not because of skin color but because he convincingly made the case that he stood for “change” that this country needs. Now, across many fronts — in public policy and politics alike — people have rightly been questioning whether the change has been for the better. Unfortunately, the answer so far is clear: not yet.
I still believe Obama can stand for positive change. But first he must make some hard changes of his own.
The need is becoming more obvious by the day: He must overhaul his own team, replacing the admittedly brilliant advisers who helped elect him with others more capable of helping him govern. Getting elected and getting things done for the people are two different jobs.
I am an admirer of Tim Kaine, whom I backed in his current position as one of my successors as Virginia governor and even recommended for the vice presidency. But a spate of recent losses in races that Democrats should have won underscores what has been obvious to me for a long time: The chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee is the wrong job for him.
The changes must go much deeper. Obama’s West Wing is filled with people who are in their jobs because of their Chicago connections or because they signed on with Obama early during his presidential campaign.
One problem is that they do not have sufficient experience at governing at the executive branch level. The deeper problem is that they are not listening to the people.
Hearing is one thing; listening is another.
Some are even questioning whether Obama has forgotten how he got elected and the promises he made to the people who elected him.
Don’t take my word for any of this. Look at the clear message the American people have been sending at the polls these past few months.
In my native Virginia, voters went to the polls and turned the Democrats out of the Executive Mansion with more votes and by a higher percentage than had ever happened since we ended one-party government rule 50 years ago. I told the president that this could very well happen and did not support his candidate.

PENN STATE STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS DEMAND FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO MICHAEL MANN AND THE CLIMATEGATE SCANDAL

Penn State’s Handling of Mann Investigation Fails to Satisfy Students, Community Members
Penn State’s internal inquiry into Michael Mann’s alleged scientific misconduct concluded with the virtual exoneration of his behavior, and ignored key evidence in the Climategate scandal. As feared, this inquiry was little more than a whitewash—an assault on academic integrity.
First, the university’s internal review consisted of three Penn State employees who have strong incentives to protect the school’s reputation and the millions of dollars it receives from global warming research grants. There was no external oversight.
Second, the review consisted of looking at a mere 47 emails (out of thousands in question), interviewing Mann, analyzing materials he submitted, and asking only two biased sources about his credibility. Penn State hardly conducted a “thorough investigation” of alleged wrongdoing by Mann.
Consider the following extract:
“•He [Mann] explained that he had never falsified any data, nor had he had ever manipulated data to serve a given predetermined outcome;
“•He explained that he never used inappropriate influence in reviewing papers by other scientists who disagreed with the conclusions of his science;
“•He explained that he never deleted emails at the behest of any other scientist, specifically including Dr. Phil Jones, and that he never withheld data with the intention of obstructing science; and
“•He explained that he never engaged in activities or behaviors that were inconsistent with accepted academic practices.”
In short, Mann’s own claim of innocence is taken as proof of his innocence. Moreover, parts of the report are almost fawning in their description of Mann (e.g. “All were impressed by Dr. Mann’s composure and his forthright responses”). “This type of language would be more appropriate in a letter of recommendation than in a serious investigation,” commented Penn State sophomore, and YAF chair, Samuel Settle.
Third, Penn State’s internal review ignored key passages in the emails under scrutiny. While the committee examined the use of the word “trick” in correspondence between Mann and colleague Phil Jones, it failed to explore the purpose of Mann’s “trick” to “hide the decline [in global temperatures],” which clearly suggests a manipulation of the data.
Penn State’s internal review of a few emails by vested interests inspires no confidence that Mann did not engage in scientific misconduct—which is precisely why an independent and external investigation of Michael Mann and Climategate is essential in order to reach a credible conclusion.
Students, residents and community leaders will join together to demand a fair and independent investigation, which eliminates the University’s obvious conflict of interest, on February 12th, at noon, in front of the Hetzel Union Building (HUB) on Penn State’s University Park Campus (Pollock Road entrance). Recent news reports have highlighted Dr. Rajendra Pachauri’s and the United Nation’s involvement in covering up flawed science:
February 2, 2010, Investor’s Business Daily article, Walter Russell Read, Project Director for Religion and Foreign Policy at the Pew Forum, said “After years in which global warming activists had lectured everyone about the overwhelming nature of the scientific evidence, it turned out that the most prestigious agencies in the global warming movement were breaking laws, hiding data and making inflated, bogus claims resting on, in some cases, no scientific basis at all.”
On January 30, 2010, the Times of London reported, “Pachauri was told that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment that glaciers would disappear by 2035 was wrong, but he waited two months to correct it.”
On January 24, 2010, the Times of London reported the UN wrongly linked global warming to natural disasters. Reporter Jonathan Leake wrote, “The United Nations climate panel faces new controversy for wrongly linking global warming to an increase in the number and severity of natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods,” and the report “had not been subjected to routine scientific scrutiny.”
Senator Barrasso, a member of both the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Environment and Public Works Committee, has continued to call on the international community and the Obama Administration to ensure that our energy policy is based on sound scientific data.
Recently, Barrasso sent letters to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to express his concerns regarding a report concluding the organizations eliminated two-thirds of their temperature monitoring stations around the globe in places that are colder, rural or at higher altitudes beginning in 1990 in order to drive up temperature trend averages.

OBAMACARE WILL DECREASE THE DEFICIT? YEAH, RIGHT!

With Congress moving to raise the debt limit, it should serve as a wake-up call that federal spending is out of control. Democratic leadership has tried to convince Americans that passing costly health care legislation is not only sensible, but requisite, and must be done now.
Neither is true. The bills use weak spending limits, weak tax provisions, and even weaker cuts to current spending to pay for reform. Democrats claim these provisions mean that the massive health bill will not only be paid for, but will decrease the federal deficit.
In a recent testimony to the House Budget Committee, health care expert James Capretta outlines why this is contrary to Obamacare’s more likely fiscal future.
Weak Cost Control on New Entitlements. Both bills increase coverage by expanding Medicaid or offering subsidies to purchase insurance on the exchange. Lavish subsidies will be available to those who do not qualify for Medicaid but make under 400 percent the Federal Poverty Level. While 127 million Americans fall in this category, only 18 million are projected to receive the subsidy, due to a “firewall” to prevent those who are offered employer-sponsored coverage from receiving it. This creates gross inequity within income brackets. As is the way with Congress, lawmakers will likely give in to taxpayer pressure down the road to extend the subsidies and eliminate the inequity. Expanding this entitlement will cost billions, adding to the deficit.
The bills create another new entitlement via the CLASS Act, which provides community living assistance. Beneficiaries would pay premiums but would not receive benefits until years later, thus creating one-time savings at the programs onset. Obviously, years down the road this spending cushion would deteriorate, and the program would become insolvent. This is not accounted for in ten year cost projections.
Weak and Unpopular New Taxes. The Senate bill is paid for with a 40 percent excise tax on high-cost insurance plans. This provision is to deter Americans from purchasing unnecessarily extravagant health plans, but it is also responsible for about half of the revenue used to pay for the bill. This tax is widely unpopular, and Washington has already begun and will likely continue to carve out favored constituencies who balk at this tax. Union members have already been exempt through 2017, which eliminates 40 percent of expected revenue from this tax.
Presumed Cuts to Medicare. Finally, both bills are largely paid for by cuts to Medicare of approximately half a trillion dollars. These cuts will presumably be made to payment rates for certain care providers by decreasing inflation updates. The expectation that this will actually occur is almost laughable. At the same time that lawmakers are proposing to pay for health care form using cuts to Medicare, they are trying to pass the “doc fix” legislation to end cuts to Medicare that were enacted to—you guessed it—contain costs. Every year, Congress is supposed to decrease physician payment rates in order to control Medicare spending. And every year, Congress votes to suspend the doctors’ payment decrease due to pressure from the industry. The House recently passed legislation that would get rid of the payment cuts for good. And yet without blinking an eye, they propose to use the same failed method to pay for health care reform.
These cuts to Medicare are even more unlikely considering their full impact. As Capretta points out, “The Chief Actuary of the Medicare program has warned that these arbitrary reductions could have serious consequences for beneficiaries’ access to care, as [they] would push about one out of every five hospital facilities into insolvency.”
The House and Senate bills received positive cost estimates by the Congressional Budget Office based on these weak spending controls and the fact that the CBO analysis looks at the first ten year window, which for both bills, includes ten years of raising revenue, but only six years of spending. The country is facing a fiscal crisis as the population faces a demographic transformation of 30 million citizens entering old age within the next twenty years, Capretta points out. Lawmakers need to acknowledge the precariousness of America’s fiscal future and be honest about the true cost of Obamacare.

Wall Street Laughs at Volcker

Cliff Owen / AP Photo Obama’s banking czar just delivered his reform proposal, and the big banks finally have something to snicker about—because he’s leaving untouched the risky trades that played a leading role in the financial crisis.
At first, at least, it sounded so promising: After months of being ignored by President Obama and his senior staff about how to prevent another financial meltdown, economic adviser Paul Volcker got his due. The former Fed chairman’s plan to prevent banks from having their risky trading activities subsidized by the taxpayer was being taken seriously, finally, by the man who matters most to Washington, the president, who has endorsed what is being called the Volcker Rule as the centerpiece of his bank regulatory agenda.
“If Volcker thinks what he’s saying is going to stop another financial collapse, he’s crazy,” one CEO recently told me. But looking deeper, one soon discovers that “The Volcker Plan” isn’t much of a reform plan at all. (Congressional staffers cannot even get details of the proposal and have been directed by the White House to press releases.) Instead, what we are left with is a series of statements made by a well-intentioned but ultimately misguided Volcker about how he wants new legislation that would prohibit banks that are considered “too big to fail”—i.e., Citigroup, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase—from engaging in so-called proprietary trading activities. This means they would no longer be able to use firm capital to make wild bets in esoteric markets, the kind of stuff that allegedly caused the financial collapse of 2008.
I say “allegedly” because while proprietary trading did cause some big losses at some banks during the tumultuous years of 2007 and 2008, it was really a small player in the overall collapse of the financial system. Rather, it was those trades that served the firm’s customers—namely hedge funds and other big investors—that led to the massive losses and the ultimate government bailout of the big firms that has so much of the country up in arms.
And those customer trades—at least based on what Volcker is telling reporters and, as he spoke before the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday, lawmakers—aren’t being touched in what appears to be yet another half-hearted attempt to make sure Goldman Sachs and the rest of the fat cat bankers don’t put the country into another fiscal crisis any time soon.
All of this has given the heads of the big financial firms—bruised by a vengeful public that can’t seem to accept how the firms are getting ready to dole out billions in bonus money just a year after being bailed out—something finally to snicker about, at least in the private conversations I am having with them. “Joke” is the most common word I hear coming from top Wall Street executives when discussing Volcker’s “reform” efforts.
“If Volcker thinks what he’s saying is going to stop another financial collapse, he’s crazy,” one CEO recently told me.
Here’s why: Proprietary trading—or trading that begins with an idea from an in-house trader using house money—represents just a small percentage of the firms’ activities, something like 10 percent. A much larger percentage of trades are made to “service” customers—large institutional investors that buy securities every day. Those trades are often just as risky for the firms because they use their own capital to complete orders, buying huge amounts of bonds, and holding them on their balance sheets until investors are ready to complete their purchase.
For years, those trades were pretty routine. Buyers were plentiful on the deals Wall Street was hawking, particularly mortgage bonds in 2002 through 2006. Then something happened in 2006: The buyers started balking. First it was because all those mortgage bond deals didn’t have enough “yield” or return to justify the risk that they carried—all those mortgages now being packed into the bonds were being sold to people with less and less means to repay them. So-called subprime borrowers were the fastest-growing segment of the mortgage market. With that the banks kept a greater and greater proportion of the deals on their balance sheets, pocketing the interest income, as they waited for the buyers to return.
By the early spring of 2007, when fears began to grow of a complete housing meltdown, the buyers weren’t just balking, they were boycotting, and yet Wall Street kept pumping out deals, hoping against hope that the buyers would return. As we all are painfully aware, they didn’t—and Wall Street was stuck with billions of toxic securities that would have made every bank, possibly with the exception of JPMorgan, insolvent were it not for the bailout measures.
The point here is that nothing Volcker is looking to impose on Wall Street in the coming weeks recognizes that it was customer trading—the stuff Goldman and the rest of Wall Street often tout as doing “God’s work”—that played the leading role in the financial crisis.
Why doesn’t Volcker know this? This is after all one of the world’s great economists, who as Fed chairman in the late 1970s and early 1980s defeated inflation. It may be old age (he is after all in his 80s) or it may be because he was out of the limelight for so long—Volcker hasn’t been involved in government since leaving the Fed nearly 25 years ago—he’s simply out of touch with the reality of the modern financial system.
Either way, no legislation would be better than bad legislation, which this plan seems to be. And that’s why Wall Street is snickering.

Tea Partiers shaking up races across country

A once-dismissed loose confederation of Tea Party activists opposed to big government, bailouts and higher taxes is causing heartburn for establishment candidates across the country.
They swept into Massachusetts with lightning speed when polls began to show that the eventual winner of last week’s special election, Republican Scott Brown, had a shot at upsetting Democrat Martha Coakley for the Senate seat that liberal lion Edward M. Kennedy had held almost 47 years.
Relying on Internet tools like Facebook and Twitter for communications, tea partiers have organized meetings, marches and protests almost overnight, often catching establishment politicians off guard. They’ve put together a Capitol Hill rally hours before President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech Wednesday to protest his health care plan.
Tea partiers boast that they are a leaderless, grass-roots political army not beholden to either party, even though some of them acknowledge that Republican candidates who share their conservative fiscal views are most likely to benefit from the movement’s efforts.
About 50 activists from 30 states gathered in Washington over the weekend for a conference that former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas, helped put together. Armey, a lobbyist until late last year, has made it clear he doesn’t want to be the face of the movement.
Some of those attending were equally resolute that their marching orders will continue to come from the grass roots, not political professionals in Washington.
“We get people who call us all the time, politicians or other organizations, and they say, ‘Hey, we need you to do a protest across the country on this date.’ And we just laugh because it’s a fundamental misunderstanding of the movement,” said Mark Meckler, a California lawyer and board member of Tea Party Patriots, an umbrella group.
Tea parties began cropping up around the country last February, responding with anger to the government’s bailout of banks and insurance giant AIG, then Chrysler and General Motors. They then took on defeating Obama’s health care overhaul, showing up at and often disrupting lawmakers’ town hall meetings in August.
Democrats and some Republicans dismissed them as “Astroturf,” or fake grass roots, loud but ineffective. Few in either party now doubt the tea partiers’ legitimacy. And woe to Democrats and Republicans alike who don’t recognize their power.
After winning the endorsement of national Republicans, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist was once thought to be a shoo-in for the GOP nomination to take over the Senate seat vacated by Republican Mel Martinez.
But Crist’s support for last year’s nearly $800 billion federal stimulus plan cost him support among conservatives and he’s now in a tight primary battle with a Tea Party-backed rival, former state House Speaker Marco Rubio.
FreedomWorks has formed a PAC on behalf of several Tea Party groups for pouring money into a number of races. Besides helping Rubio, the PAC is working to oust Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and is backing Republican Pat Toomey’s challenge to Republican-turned-Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania.
In Kentucky, their political money is going to Rand Paul against the GOP’s candidate, Secretary of State Trey Grayson, for the nomination to take over the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Jim Bunning. Paul is the son of Republican Rep. Ron Paul, who won a small but devoted following when he ran for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination on an anti-tax, anti-Iraq war platform.
Advertisement The movement’s far-flung nature has led to some growing pains and disagreements.
Demands for ideological purity from Tea Party activists forced a moderate Republican out of a special House race in New York last year, handing Democrat Bill Owens a seat the GOP had held for decades.
“The GOP got this one wrong, plain and simple,” Mark Williams, a California radio host and head of the Tea Party Express, said at the time. “We have said all along that our fight was over principles, not party affiliation.”
Many activists have complaints about the so-called National Tea Party Convention scheduled next month in Nashville, organized as a for-profit venture by Tennessee lawyer Judson Phillips. Balking at the $550 ticket price and the $100,000 speaking fee being paid to former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, some are boycotting it.
“We try to avoid these high-dollar price tags that you’re seeing. A lot of the blowback is simply that it’s expensive and real people can’t do that,” FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe said.
Phillips did not immediately return a request for comment.
There are also disputes about whether social issues like abortion, gun rights and illegal immigration should be part of the movement’s agenda.
“That’s what’s a good thing about having separate groups,” said Lynn Brannon, a hospital workers and leader of the Delaware 9-12 Patriot Organization, a Tea Party group. “We decided as a group that we wanted to focus on immigration. We don’t want another organization to say, ‘You can’t get in on doing that.’”
Brannon’s group has worked to recruit a candidate to challenge Republican Rep. Mike Castle, the leading candidate to win the Delaware Senate seat held for years by Vice President Joe Biden. Castle voted for a bill aimed at reducing global warming. Tea partiers view the legislation as a job-killing energy tax.
In many ways, the Tea Party movement mirrors the anti-tax insurgency of the early 1990s led by Texas billionaire Ross Perot.
Running for president as an independent in 1992 on a platform of balanced budgets and fiscal restraint, Perot captured 19 percent of the vote in an election in which Democrat Bill Clinton took the White House away from Republican President George H.W. Bush.
Sensing opportunity with Perot voters, Republicans at the time led by party chairman Haley Barbour and Georgia Rep. Newt Gingrich smartly coaxed them into the GOP fold. Republicans enacted the Contract With America, a 10-point plan that promised smaller government and lower taxes. The effort helped Republicans recapture both the House and Senate in the 1994 midterm elections _ a scenario not impossible again this year.
At Monday’s FreedomWorks briefing, tea partiers said they are readying a Contract “From” America that will be driven by local organizations.

You may have heard that President Obama has proposed a three-year “freeze” on federal spending, and that may sound good on its face. But it’s really a gimmick to make it look like the administration has heard your voice about the size of government.
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office just released its projections for the coming year and they found something interesting. Without Obama’s “freeze,” discretionary spending would actually decrease over the next four years. So by freezing spending at today’s higher level, it would mean spending more!
One more thing about the “freeze” – it freezes in place all of the huge spending increases from Obama’s first year in office. When the stimulus was passed, we were told it would be temporary; Obama’s freeze would extend that spending for three more years. Don’t be fooled.

The so-called “Cornhusker Kickback” – the $100 million health care bribe offered to Democratic Senator Ben Nelson to secure his crucial 60th vote for the great health care giveaway of 2010 – is clearly unconstitutional as a bill of attainder. Let’s hope that enough Attorneys General from the states that are going to have to foot the bill for this boondoggle get interested in challenging this unfair law to get the Supreme Court to review its constitutionality and strike it down.
Here in Pennsylvania, Attorney General Tom Corbett is promising to do just that, reportedly along with the Attorneys General from 12 other states. If true, Corbett’s action should go a long way towards convincing conservatives, including independent conservatives as well as conservative Republicans, that Corbett is the right man to lead Pennsylvania as its Governor for the next four, and hopefully next eight, years. A copy of the letter these 13 AGs sent to the Speaker of the House, urging that she prevent such a health care bill from becoming law and appealing to her sense of fairness, is available on Corbett’s web site:

Corbett also participated Friday in a debate on education sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Education Association, in which he called for, among other things, accountability for educational programs that receive state funding. Such accountability seems to be the least we taxpayers can ask for, since education funding has traditionally, and rightfully, been the province of local school districts and not the state and federal governments. If taxpayers in the midstate are going to be forced to fund school programs for students in Philadelphia, we’d at least like to be sure they have some chance of actually improving education, based on, as Corbett said, some supporting research. On the other hand, most of us would rather let Philadelphians take care of their own schools, so that we don’t have to worry about this, but accountability would at least be a step in the right direction.

Obama Support Plunges in Liberal California

President Barack Obama’s popularity has plunged in Democrat-dominated California, a poll reported Wednesday, giving the US leader another gloomy bulletin to digest following a stunning Republican upset in a Massachusetts Senate election.
The Field Poll of 1,232 registered voters in California found that Obama’s overall approval rating had fallen from 65 percent last March to 56 percent, with 34 percent disapproving of his performance.
On specific issues, a majority of Californians now disapprove of Obama’s handling of the US economy. Only 44 percent approved, down from 61 percent in March last year, the survey showed.
A majority also gave a thumbs down to Obama’s performance on the issue of health care reform, his top domestic priority, with 53 percent disapproving and 39 percent approving.
The Field Poll attributed the decline in Obama’s popularity in California to sharp falls in his approval ratings amongst Democrats and non-partisans.
Since March, Obama’s approval ratings amongst Democrats had dipped from 87 percent to 77 percent.
The poll findings come after Republican Scott Brown pulled off a shock victory in Tuesday’s Massachusetts vote, capturing the late Democratic icon Edward Kennedy’s seat in a stern rebuke of Obama exactly a year after he took office.

Feeling blue? Take a second look at Scott Brown

Buzz up! You may be a Scott Brown voter if:
- You’re in a union, and you’re going to have to pay a 40 percent tax on your “Cadillac” health-care plan if Martha Coakley gets a chance to vote for Obama’s health-care rationing bill.
- You’re still waiting for that property-tax relief that Deval Patrick promised you in 2006.
- You’re on kidney dialysis and you have to pay for your treatment . . . but illegal aliens don’t.
- You’ve been rear-ended by a drunken state senator.
- You’ve been groped in Lowell by a state senator who, when arrested, gave police the name of a state rep.
- You lost your appetite for lunch one day when you observed a female state senator in a restaurant stuffing FBI cash bribes into her bra.
- You watch this crime wave emanating from the State House and wonder why the attorney general can’t seem to find one single solon to arrest, when the feds have no difficulty whatsoever nailing House speaker after speaker after speaker on serious felonies – not the technicalities Martha Coakley’s gone after Sal DiMasi for.
- You own a package store in the Merrimack Valley, and you’re getting killed by the hacks’ new 6.25 percent sales tax on alcohol, on top of the 37 percent excise tax.
- You believe that if someone rapes his 23-month-old niece with a hot curling iron, the district attorney should go after the rapist even before the child’s mother files a complaint – even if the perp is a politically wired cop and the DA is running for higher office.
- You believe that if the governor’s appointees rubberstamp a $44 million utility-rate increase, and then the next week Deval pockets $7,000 in contributions from that same power company’s executives (and spouses) at their lobbyist’s office, perhaps the attorney general should at least have . . . a comment.
- You don’t have a big problem with making county jailbirds pay $5 a day room and board at the House of Correction, even if the SJC does.
- You do, however, have a problem with Billy Bulger’s $198,205.92 state pension (with survivor’s benefits).
- Your local property-tax bill is rising almost as fast as the value of your home is dropping.
- You wonder why Martha Coakley never apologized to Tookie Amirault.
- You’ve had to wait hours in line at a Registry office to renew your driver’s license after they shut down your local branch because of the state’s alleged fiscal crisis – but they still want to give free tuition at state colleges to illegal aliens.

OBAMA ORDERS 1 MILLION US TROOPS TO PREPARE FOR CIVIL WAR

The fact that some people don’t see the civil war raging around them is similar to the phenomenon of the frogs and the pot of water. Throw frogs into a pot of boiling water, and they’ll make a frantic effort to escape. But place them in a pot of tepid water, turn the heat on, and the frogs sit complacently in the pot, and because the gradual change in temperature never seems alarming, are boiled to death.

Russian Military Analysts are reporting to Prime Minister Putin that US President Barack Obama has issued orders to his Northern Command’s (USNORTHCOM) top leader, US Air Force General Gene Renuart, to “begin immediately” increasing his military forces to 1 million troops by January 30, 2010, in what these reports warn is an expected outbreak of civil war within the United States before the end of winter.
According to these reports, Obama has had over these past weeks “numerous” meetings with his war council about how best to manage the expected implosion of his Nations banking system while at the same time attempting to keep the United States military hegemony over the World in what Russian Military Analysts state is a “last ditch gambit” whose success is “far from certain”.
And to Obama’s “last ditch gambit”, these reports continue, he is to announce in a nationwide address to his people this coming week that he is going to expand the level of US Military Forces in Afghanistan by tens of thousands of troops, while at the same time using the deployment of these soldiers as a “cover” for returning to the United States over 200,000 additional American soldiers from the over 800 bases in over 39 countries they have stationed around the Globe bringing the level of these forces in America to over 1 million, a number the US Military believes will be able to contain the “explosion of violence” expected to roil these peoples when they learn their economy has been bankrupted.
These reports further state that at the same time Obama will be attempting to keep his Nation from violent disintegration, the tens of thousands of additional troops he will send to Afghanistan are to be ordered to Kandahar where the Americans and their NATO allies will begin their final attempt to secure their TAPI (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India) pipeline, which without the Western Nations, due to their grave lack of alternative energy resources, and being cut off from these vast Central Asian supplies (which both Russia and China are seeking to insure), are warned will totally collapse.
Making the American’s (and by extension the West’s) situation even worse are new reports coming from the International Energy Agency stating that “under pressure” from the US government they have been “deliberately underplaying” a looming Global oil shortage for fear of triggering panic buying and raising the Americans fear over the end of oil supremacy because it would threaten their power over access to our World’s last remaining oil resources.
To the scariest “end game” maneuvers being made by Obama, in his attempt to protect Americas Global hegemony, is his record shattering move in plunging the United States $3.5 Trillion further into debt, and which raises the total amount owed by the United States, to its citizens and the World, to the unprecedented height of over $106 Trillion.
So alarming has Obama’s actions become (especially since they are being imitated by all of the Western powers) that the managing-director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn, warned this past week that the “stimulus actions” of the West (which in essence is nothing more than the printing of money with nothing to back it up) has now become a “threat to democracy” as millions of people are expected to erupt in violence against their governments over the theft of their money and their futures.
Most unfortunately for the American people though is that this IMF warning fell on “deaf ears” in the United States with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President, James Bullard, saying this week that the US would continue its “stimulus actions” because they “would give more flexibility to US policymakers”, a most absurd statement especially when viewed in the light of the unprecedented debt payments currently looming over the American economy they have no ability whatsoever to pay.
To the ability of the West’s banking giants to save their Nation’s economies, even worse news came this week with the US ratings giant Standards & Poors issuing a warning that “every single bank in Japan, the US, Germany, Spain, and Italy included in S&P’s list of 45 Global lenders remain unsafe”, a warning which then lead to one of Europe’s largest banks, Société Générale, warning its clients to prepare for a “total Global Economic Collapse”.
To the fears of Obama over the United States erupting into civil war once the full extent of the rape and pillaging of these peoples by their banks and government becomes known to them, grim evidence now shows the likelihood of this occurring much sooner than later, especially in new poll figures showing that Obama’s approval rating among white Americans has now fallen to 39%. A number made more significant when one realizes that the white population of the United States comprises 74% of their estimated 398 million citizens, or put more ominously in these reports as “over 220 million American people armed to the teeth and ready to explode”.
And so fearful has the white population of the United States become that upon the election of Obama to the Presidency he was named as the “Gun Salesman of the Year” by the Outdoor Wire, the US’s largest daily electronic news service for the outdoor industry, who report “panic buying” of weapons and ammunition by those fearful of the destruction of their country at the hands of man they believe is not even an American citizen and had been foisted upon them by their elite classes seeking to enslave them.
Though the coming civil war in the United States is being virtually ignored by their propaganda media, the same cannot be said of Russia, where leading Russian political analyst, Professor Igor Panarin has long warned that the economic turmoil in the United States has confirmed his long-held view that the US is heading for collapse, and will divide into separate parts.
Professor Igor Panarin further stated in his warning that “the US Dollar is not secured by anything. The country’s foreign debt has grown like an avalanche, even though in the early 1980s there was no debt. By 1998, when I first made my prediction, it had exceeded $2 trillion. Now it is more than 11 trillion. This is a pyramid that can only collapse.”
What remains to be seen, and these reports do not speculate upon, is if the citizen-soldiers of the United States will fire upon and kill their fellow countrymen during the coming conflict, but if history is to be our guide clearly shows this will be the case as the once great American Nation continues its headlong plunge into the abyss of history. May God have mercy upon all of them.

FOILED TERROR ATTACK SHOULD BE WAKE-UP CALL

Ever since 9/11, the Democrats’ mantra has been that the FBI’s and CIA’s efforts to protect us are threatening our civil liberties.
As recently as two months ago, John Conyers Jr., a Michigan Democrat who heads the House Judiciary Committee, introduced a bill to gut key Patriot Act provisions which the FBI has used successfully to obtain intelligence quickly.
“Over the past eight years, Americans grew tired of the same old scare tactics, designed to fool the public into believing that we needed to give up freedom to be safe from terrorism,” Conyers said. “It is a new day and an opportunity for reform.”
The truth is that since the days of J. Edgar Hoover, no abuse by the FBI — meaning an act done for political or other improper purposes — has ever been uncovered. The Democrats’ bill would essentially require the FBI to already have evidence of a crime before it can obtain the information necessary to determine if a crime has been committed.
This is the same no-win situation the FBI was in before the 9/11 attacks. Yet Democrats who tied the FBI’s hands behind its back back then had no compunction about criticizing the FBI and the Bush administration for failing to connect the dots before the 9/11 attacks.
In the same vein, President Obama has signaled to terrorists that even if they have knowledge of impending attacks, they will never face the same interrogation techniques used on our own troops as part of training exercises.
By threatening prosecution of CIA officers for following orders approved by the president, the Justice Department, and key members of Congress, Obama has undermined the CIA’s incentive to obtain vital intelligence by taking risks.
Now after witnessing the effort to take down Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas Day, Americans are seeing what can happen if we let our guard down. The suspect, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, has claimed links to al-Qaida, but Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano in the past has dismissed the entire notion of terrorism by referring to it as “man-caused disasters.”
Even before Obama came into office, civil liberties advocates had succeeded in limiting two tools that could have prevented the foiled attack by the suspect. One is whole-body imaging scanners that use radio waves or X-rays to reveal objects under a person’s clothes.
These scanners could have pinpointed chemicals that were apparently strapped to the suspect’s body.
The government has sought to expand use of imaging scanners, but privacy advocates and Congress have raised objections. The question is, Would passengers rather have their private parts scanned by security personnel or be blown up 40,000 feet above the earth?
The second tool is the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment, or TIDE, which lists about 550,000 individuals, objects like cars, and addresses. From that list, the FBI develops the Terrorist Screening Data Base (TSDB), from which consular, border, and airline watch lists are drawn.
The Transportation Security Administration maintains its own “no-fly” list of about 4,000 people who are prohibited from boarding any domestic or U.S.-bound aircraft. Another list of about 14,000 “selectees” has been compiled. They require additional scrutiny but are not banned from flying.
Based on a warning from the suspect’s father to U.S. embassy officials in Nigeria that his son had fallen prey to radical Islam, Mutallab should have been on the list to receive additional scrutiny. But while he was in the TIDE database, he was never placed on the list to receive such scrutiny.
In placing individuals on these lists, intelligence officials receive constant pressure from the ACLU and other civil liberties advocates. Backed by Democrats, they have complained that there is something inherently insidious about the number of names on the lists.
“Terror Database Has Quadrupled In Four Years; U.S. Watch Lists Are Drawn From Massive Clearinghouse,” a March 25, 2007 headline in the Washington Post warned.
Timothy Sparapani, the ACLU’s legislative counsel for privacy rights, has called the numbers “shocking.”
So blind are the Democrats to the need to protect the country that they have delayed extending the provisions of the Patriot Act by two months while they work on healthcare legislation, which would not begin to provide benefits to the uninsured until 2013.
Privately, FBI agents and CIA officers have been saying for some time that it will take another attack to awaken the country to the fact that we are putting ourselves at risk. If the Democrats have their way, nothing will change until another attack takes place. Then we will again see children on TV holding up photos of their parents, hoping that someone will say they are still alive.

In her story today in the “Intelligencer” http://www.kypost.com/content/wcposhared/story/2010-Situation-Grows-More-Difficult-For-Democrats/mHKeZA1xF0ax88UN9ih2eQ.cspx that is published in Bucks County and the 8th congressional district, and I’m quoting, “Four House Democrats from swing districts have recently chosen not to seek re-election, bringing to 11 the number of retirements that could leave Democratic-held seats vulnerable to Republicans. More Democratic retirements are expected. Many independents who backed Democrats in 2006 and 2008 have turned away. Republicans, meanwhile, are energized and united in opposing Obama’s policies”.
Nowhere is that energy more evident than in Bucks County as there is a renewed passion and vigor in seeing the Republican party emerge victorious in November. This could definitely bode well for Republicans and conservatives, especially with the ever-growing “Tea Party” movement that is gaining credibility with every passing day.
In Bucks County (PA-8th) alone where Patrick Murphy withstood defeat since his razor-thin victory over Mike Fitzpatrick in 2006 during a very anti-Republican year, there are over 12 candidates that have expressed interest to challenge him in the general election. Of course, the primary on May 18 is the first hurdle, but if Bucks County is anything like other counties across America, Patrick Murphy and his Democratic compatriots could be singing a different tune come November 3, 2010 — and it doesn’t matter who plays basketball with President Obama. There is so much activity and passion in Bucks County, not just because of the tea party movement, which is sizeable, but because many people who bought the story and voted for change are now expressing buyer’s remorse with what is going on in Washington.
To show the importance of the tea party/conservative movement in Bucks County, a debate forum is scheduled with many of the Republican congressional candidates on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 7pm at the Council Rock South High School, moderated by Steve Highsmith, NBC10 and MyPHL reporter. This forum is being sponsored by the Kitchen Table Patriots, a tea party group that has grown by leaps and bounds in less than one year. Criteria to participate includes filing of FEC paperwork, filling out the KTP questionnaire, and KTP leadership meeting. This event is expected to be a sell-out.
